Official trial for patients to stop their thyroxine for 6 weeks. Has anyone done this?
Have any members done this trial? This trial run by Newcastle Hospitals Trust ends in November 2024. It involves hypothyroid patients stopping their thyroxine for 6 weeks - to see how they felt when not taking thyroxine, and if they'd recommend a friend doing the same. ITT Improve Thyroid Treatment

Apologies if I’m way behind and have missed a thread or two on this topic. Has anyone heard of the current study in Newcastle where patients stop their T4 for 6 weeks so doctors can see if they really need it?

Hi everyone, Further to my previous posts, I saw private Endo last week who won’t prescribe T3 until Short Synacthen test is done for borderline low cortisol of 248 and reverse t3 blood test done to confirm poor t3 conversion (???). I have been told today by his secretary (after arranging the tests

blood pressure
Hi, Has anyone experienced high blood pressure and do you know if this is from too much medication or a hypo symptom? I am homozygous dio2 and T4 on last bloods was 15 (10-22) and t3 was 6.6 (3.1-6.8). At the time I was on 87.5 T4 and 20 T3 but I had only been on the 20 T3 for a few weeks when my

Is there any correlation between low thyroid hormones & spinal stenosis
Hi, Just curious. Was just diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. I believe it has been going on for years & reasons to believe possibly not acquired but congenital. I know thyroid issues do not cause it & if there is a congenital aspect to mine of course it is not the reason. But researching any links

Having problems
Hi, Managed to get myself somewhat stable after a crisis period in December/January, and felt the best I had in ages on a dose of 100 mcg, TSH of 0.07 {Range:0.27-4.2}, and T4 of 19 {Range 12-22}. not without symptoms, but better than 95% of the time on dose. T3 was not done despite request from

I was diagnosed May/June 23. I had just had my diabetes check and all was OK. Fast forward to December check and definitely not ok! I had been eating low carb and had lost weight. Life became very difficult from October with a nasty fall, mental heath crisis for our grandson while we were looking

Important caveat regarding estrogen therapy
Prof. Richard Wassersug tells me that estrogen therapy may be contraindicated if you have a BRCA 1 or 2 gene mutation. You can get a free, saliva germline genetic test of 30 genes from Color, Inc. as part of the PROMISE registry.

Hello, I moved from a combination of ERFA/T3 last November to exclusively on T3. Initially, I was splitting my doses three times a day and gradually building up from a starting dose of only 10mcg at 4am/ 5mcg at 11am and 5 mcg at 3pm.. I worked up to 30mg at 4am/5mcg at 11am and 10mcg at 3pm. I

Obtaining T3 in the UK
Hi My T4 is high (22.2) and T3 low (4.0). It appears I am a poor converter of T4 to T3 and would benefit from taking T3. I am aware the doctors won’t even test for T3 levels, let alone prescribe it. Can anyone recommend a reliable company that sells T3 or even a way to get prescribed in the UK. In

Blood in urine!
Hi, Feeling extremely anxious as a dip test by the GP just before Christmas showed blood in the sample…couldn’t be seen with the naked eye. I had gone to see the GP because of frequent peeing during the night but with no pain. He sent the sample off to the lab to check for infection and prescribed

How overcome a high B12 test from when I must supplement to function?
Both intrinsic factor and parietal antibody tests were positive ("abnormal") with B12 >2000. Methylmalonic Acid is normal at .28. I have Hashimoto's and other autoimmune conditions and I recently learned my mom was being treated for PA when she passed. After suffering so many of the symptoms of PA for

Implications of positive if ‘weak ANA test’?
I have dry-eye confirmed by Moorfield’s. I also have dry mouth and my dentist said she suspected I had Sjorgren’s. When tested I proved to have a ‘weak positive ANA test’. What, if anything does that mean?
