Dairy (including milk, kefir, yogurt etc.) actually increases bone fractures?
Many doctors and articles seem to tout dairy for the calcium to help build bone density, yet I am reading more articles that seem to reinforce the studies which find that not only does it not help, it is actually detrimental and increases risk of fracture and even Parkinsons disease. Anyone else?

sadly, I have decided to change my cardiologist. The guy who did my ablation in 2015 retired from surgery and opened his own cardiology clinic. I thought about changing to his clinic, and switch from my old clinic a year ago. After a bad experience their (being mocked by the receptionist for forgetting

Echocardiogram
Hi, discovered 5 months ago that I have high BP. After having 2 ECGs (nothing untoward detected), calcium ct scan (zero score) & medication, looks like finally under control. Today I've received a letter for appointment at hospital to go for echocardiogram (another doctor from my surgery has requested

Test results
Hi I've just had a range of bloods done by my Gp as I'm feeling so tired and keep falling a sleep during the day. They all look OK apart from low end for calcium and my ggt liver one. Which could be because of antibiotics I'm permanently on for my cuti or my gallbladder which I'm waiting to be removed

Slightly odd blood results
I seem to have a slightly raised adjusted calcium of 2.56 mmol/L after a blood test which is up from my usual 2.4mmol/L. I only take 1000mg vitamin D and 100mcg of K2 my level of serum vitamin D has been around 130 mmol/L for a while. I’m one year into Zoladex after RT for Gleason 9 localised PCa with

Will lowering T3 dose raise TSH?
I have been treated for hypothyroidism for the last 51 years, since the birth of my first child. For 12 years, T3 only, for 18 years T4 only, and for 19 years T3 only (since menopause). When I got a diagnosis for osteoporosis, I asked to have a T4 supplement for a T4/T3 ratio that would slow the parathyroids

Anyone had any issues with this affecting absorption of calcium or other minerals? Have a bone density problem and can't afford for it to do that. Also getting tingling in toes, fingers and lips which can apparently be a sign of deficiency. Anyone know anything about this?

I am freaking out right now. Right before I decide to celebrate with friends for my 5 year milestone, the cancer is active again and I feel defeated. I want to cancel the party next week. It’s all very overwhelming. I am ER/PR pos, HER2 neg. I’m in a lot of pain and although I am awaiting a chest

absorbing calcium
I have just started taking 1 adcal-d3 a day, but it's hard to know if you are absorbing calcium because you read of so many foods that block and leech calcium from your bones, you don't know what to eat at mealtimes.

This is my first time I’m posting on this forum. I had Graves’ disease was on carbimozle. 2017 diagnosed. Relapsed 2021. I had my full thyroidectomy nearly 8 weeks ago. After my surgery I had tingling sensation on my face and arms within 10 hours of the surgery whilst in hospital. Was given Calcichew

Anxiety again
Well it’s been a hard two weeks. My GAD has flared again. I’ve been climbing the walls again. I think the past year and a half has caught up with me. I’ve been pushing my limits for a long time. With my operation and recovery, going back to work too early, my sister ‘s stroke and running back and

Not exactly PMR but advice please about post menopausal dryness.
Since I was diagnosed with PMR in 2017 I have had frequent episodes of cystitis requiring antibiotic treatment. These seemed to be made worse by the Calcium and vitamin supplement I was prescribed so I stopped taking it. But I still suffer episodes of UTI/ cystitis about once a year and now my GP has

Gabapentin and Oxycodone
Hi I'm back, looking for more advice from the wise ones on HealthUnlocked. I recently came off Pramipexole and persuaded my (UK NHS) neurologist to prescribed Oxycodone/Nalazone. I take 10mgs in the morning and 20 about 7.00pm (any later and it doesn't work). This led to an improvement, but my sleep

Oral Iron supplements, doing it wrong!
Well, I got my full blood test back and after some analysis, I think I messed up. I have been supplementing daily with 36 milligrams of ferrous bisglysinate. Here are my lab results that concern me. Ferritin was 72! This is my lowest since my infusion in 2016. Eight weeks after my infusion
