Beta blockers messed with thyroid treatment
Hi All, I am hoping you clever people wouldnt mind kindly give me some advice on managing the consequences of being on cardivilol for three years. I did query taking it several times with consultants & GP as I had once been given propranolol years ago which caused my thyroid horomones not to be fully

Dexa Update
Hello all! I said I would let you know the results of my dexa. Prior to going on prednisone in October 2019, I had osteopenia and I just had another dexa done (about a year since my last one) and I am still in the osteopenia range although my numbers weren't quite as good for the spine and the hip

Visit to rheumatologist
I see a rheumi every nine months so very lucky. I have a real problem telling her just how I feel. Many days I feel as though I have been beaten, everywhere hurts and although I am able to do many things it is only for short bursts and really struggle lifting etc. Her report to gp says no sign of

Thyroidectomy and calcium
There are sometimes posts or replies on the merits or demerit of calcium supplements. However, treatment for all thyroid conditions is not the same. People who have had thyroidectomy often need calcium as well as vit D3. Whether from food or supplements we all need sufficient calcium in our bodies

Alternative therapies: what I've learned
I've been on the PMR journey since 2014, and the pred episode since 2015. In that time I've also had an osteoporosis scare. Those interested in what I did about that can read https://healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk/posts/137578304/my-osteoporosis-journey - a bit dated now, but successful anyway.... When

Advice please
Hi I’m new here. I have a 4cmx2cmx2cm mass in my thyroid as yet Unidentified. I have had some blood tests. My Creatinine level is 45 at upper limit. Blood calcium is 2.62 also at upper limit. Vit d is 30 so low, should I ask to see an endocrinologist ? At first radiology thought the mass was an esophageal

Coeliac pain-is it a vitamin deficiency? Already on a multivitamin and vitamin D with calcium.
Fed up. About to have an op on Friday and after going gf last June, I’ve suddenly had a huge flare up of what seems like neuropathy inflammation and pain. I’m type 1 diabetic since childhood, epileptic, have an under active thyroid and coeliac but the pain from this is horrible. I’m holding my ‘phone

Should iron be taken with food or away from food?
I know thyroid hormone is best taken 4 hours away from iron, calcium, Vit D, Magnesium. And iron should be taken away 2 hours away from all supplements. BUT my question is should iron be taken away from food or best with food? I usually take Vit C with iron to increase absorption. ALSO, I read some

3rd Episode of AF, since ablation in July and thinking ? Triggers. Possibly Amlodipine?
Hi all, I was in persistent AF before my ablation. Had 2 episodes since the 10th July ablation in August and October, then last week 18th Feb. The first 2 I was anaemic, but not this time. Had recently started Amlodipine tho, for BP that had been increasingly rising - up to 150/160 over 90-110, when

Breakfast and Levothyroxine
Hi everyone! I'm looking for breakfast ideas. I take levothyroxine at 7am, so within the next 4 hours I know to avoid multivitamins and anything containing calcium and vitamin d. I also understand I should avoid walnuts and grapefruit, and other things I just haven't remembered right now. I also understand

Taking calcium and K2 together or not?
I'm wondering whether anyone knows whether to take calcium and k2 together or separate. I know that calcium can interfer with the absorption of some supplements/meds.But I also know that k2 is needed to ensure calcium goes where it's needed. What do others do? I can't find any research to clarify this.Cheers.x

Bone Strengthening
What does everybody take/use for a bone strengthened? Do all of you take calcium? I was given one IV of Zometa but I didn’t receive anymore as it cause my blood calcium levels to drop extremely low. When I asked my oncologist what I should be taking to increase my bone strength he said he wasn’t up

How are your calcium and PTH levels?
I had RAI treatment for Graves 40 years ago. 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with a parathyroid adenoma and had that removed. (by the way--people who took radio active iodine are advised by the NDC to have their PTH hormone levels tested every 5 years) Recently I have suffered from insomnia and extreme

Move to Veramapril from bisoprolol
Dear all Can I have your thoughts please I tried the bisoprolol (2.5) for 18 months after my diagnosis of paf Struggled on it and still got af attacks (very symptomatic). Finally persuaded the medics to swap me to the calcium Chanel blocker. Night and day so much better and thought that this was it
