Brufen is helping
Hi everyone I wondered if I could get your opinions. After starting steroids again in August (I too was driven to focus on getting to club zero! ) I have stayed at 5 mgs. I paid to see a consultant who basically agreed that I had some sort of inflammatory rheumatic condition! He also agreed the course

Tapering prednisolone but need boost
I have been taking prednisolone for about 18 months now. Originally to take me through a change of drugs because I was in a bit of a pickle. Started on 7 1/2 mg. got new drugs. Reduced to 5 mg in one hit and was fine. Tapered by half a milligram every two weeks or a month and now on 2 mg. (minor increase

Not the norm RA symptoms, is anyone else experiencing the same?
It's been awhile since I last contributed here, although I read nras posts regularly. I'm 3 years into a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis but I have never experienced the usual pain, redness, heat and swelling I read about. I've always had hip and pelvic pain that aches and burns, sometimes down my legs

Hi new to af
Hi I’m 48 had a chest infection/asthma was in hospital 10 days as heart rate was high and was told it may go away but looks like it hasn’t, my mum had it same age then went on to have a massive stroke so as you can imagine I’m scared. Although I’ve been reassured medicine has come a long way since

What do you guys use for medium pain relief?
Before all of this and what was probably a contributing factor I just took the usual medium prescribed pain killers (codeine 30/500) to manage injuries achieved while running out of talent on race tracks on motorbikes and the associated injuries. Similar injuries sustained in race cars and karts when

Patella tendonitis
Physio diagnosed patella tendinitis in both knees 2 weeks ago. Given lots of strength exercises told I could continue running, but I stopped last week as not improving. Doing loads of the exercises plus brufen. Basically is there any hope out there that it will resolve and I can run again? Thx 🏃

Some pain relief/medication suggestions
Hi all I often see posts asking what medication you should be on and what suggestions people have for meds. I would expect that most of us would have tried paracetamol and a NSAID (non steroid anti-inflammatory drug) such as ibuprofen. These can be taken together and should be taken regularly. So even

New symptom liver itch
Hi, I wrote 18 months ago about my fear of having cirrhosis. I drank very heavily in my 20s but stopped drinking so heavily in my early 30s but had a 4 month split from my husband in early 2017 when I drank heavily for 4 months around 2 bottles of wine every night. When we got back together I stopped

Sliding down this bumpy hill
Dear members, It's interesting to see how you have so much more difficulty with care in the developed world, whereas I in Namibia and South Africa have regular on-call oncological care of the best kind! But now, after 8 years of treatment - chemotherapy and radiation therapy - the cancer has metastasized

Hi I have yet to receive a diagnosis, I just keep getting fobbed off by the doctors. Last time I went to see the gynaecologist he prescribed me tablets to reduce the bleeding. This cycle I have been in absolute agony, taken time off work and not been able to sleep due to excruciating pain. Last night

Uncontrolled AF
I was put on Rivaoxaban which is an anticoagulant last year for AF along with Zemtard. I had a routine blood test recently and because my FBC is way out and I probably have a serious bleed somewhere I now have to have an urgent colonoscopy. My GP has told me to stop taking Rivaoxaban immediately and

Hi all, My name is Julie (Jules), I'm now 50 yrs old. Wayyyy back in the days (those in care roles/nursing will know what I mean) there weren't many, if any at all, rules and regs on Moving and Handling, and if there were, they certainly weren't enforced in care homes. I was just 18 when I started in

Knee pain / W2R2
Since my last post, iv hobbled around wincing every other step, used combination of heat/ice/ brufen gel and taken a fair few painkillers! I spent some time with my feet elevated yesterday and have only moved little and often to avoid seizing up. This morning I can walk again! Sharp pain has gone and
