Dear members,

It's interesting to see how you have so much more difficulty with care in the developed world, whereas I in Namibia and South Africa have regular on-call oncological care of the best kind! But now, after 8 years of treatment - chemotherapy and radiation therapy - the cancer has metastasized into lymph glands on the left, back muscles (soas), pancreas, ribs and stuff. All the 'stuff' knocks on against other 'stuff' and it hurts. Pain management is complicated and I am on a lot of palliative medication. I am 68 years old and retired.

I would be interested to hear how others are managing the loss of some mental capacities while using up to 120 mg slow acting morphine, 60 mg of quick-acting morphine, 225 mg Lyrica, and a whole bunch of Brufen daily. This does not eradicate the pain but does help me cope with everyday chores around the house and garden. I tire very easily and sleep a lot.

Any tips and advice from others?

To others, keep up the fight!

I can sympathize with you, I was put on morphine for pain and I don't like it, however it did nothing to my pain and didn't affect me in any way, My main problem is hip tenderness before and after radiation. Now I am told its nerve pain so morphine is not the right drug for me. I think we can only potter on as much as we can and rest when we have to,
