I have mild asthma and take ventolin and atenolol a sister to propranolol. I’ve also was on propranolol but atenolol works Better for me with my anxiety. Your Dr knows what your taking and if the adverse side effect was dangerous they would not give it to you. In addition when it’s filled at the pharmacy Red flags would come up on there system and they wouldn’t give it to you , there obligated to contact the Dr if a drug is dangerous to take with what your taking. In the future you should contact your Dr and or pharmacy and ask these questions. Taking medical advice online is dangerous and not to be trusted. Trust your medical team.
My wife had asthma as a child and when she took it the asthma returned . The doctors accepted responsibility and took her off it with an apology.
Hi, I was just wondering if you wife's asthma has improved or disappeared again since she stopped taking the propranolol? I had mild asthma and took propranolol for anxiety on an as needed basis for a few years. Never had a problem until one day my asthma got worse. Went off the propranolol 5 years ago and my asthma never improved.
Hi. Luceecain.
Propranolol is pharmacologically beta blocker which is the complete opposite of ventolin(beta agonist). So it can constrict your bronchus and bronchiols and make your asthma worse.
Propranolol sometimes can be given to people who have asthma when it's necessary but only when they're supervised by the doctors who know the patient's severiy of asthma.
My cardiologist said no to it because of my asthma to treat tachycardia. So I probably wouldn’t be game enough to take it.
