Good evening ladies, I have not posted for years, why, firstly I joined this forum when my mum got diagnosed stage 3 C ovarian, 2 huge tumours and spots on the bowel, chemo etc, big op, I can't remember the exact details because it had become almost a distant memory for me, my mum has had 6 wonderful years in remission which is amazing, but it looks like the bitch is back, excuse my language but I don't know what else to call it, so quick update, mum is now 62, hadn't been feeling well since about Feb, nausea, major bowel probs, feeling full, stomach cramps, small bowel movements with plenty of pain, ct scan done about 5 weeks ago, only abnormal thing was a slightly enlarged node on her chest, the consultant said he would keep an eye on her, the node was mm enlarged and nothing else found apparently, lock down happens and she has been steadily losing weight and feelin poorly, ca125 creeping up from 40 about 3 months ago to 600 now, obvs corona has affected everyone, and things have been delayed, she has now had another ct scan and Consultant app via telephone is on Thursday, I really need some guidance from you lovely ladies, I'm freaking out, sorry I'm asking you to 2nd guess a diagnosis, she looks quite unwell today,, I'm so scared that it will be some horror diagnosis that she is beyond help, it looks like it's in the bowel or stomach but why wasn't this seen on the ct scan before as it was only a short time ago, are bowel tumours seen on ct scans, did anyone feel so unwell like my mum but has gone on to have a stoma and chemo etc, I'm clutching at straws, kerrie Xx
Reoccurance : Good evening ladies, I have not... - My Ovacome
Reoccurance
It’s horrible going back to the uncertainty Kerrie... I have just been through this myself including the fear that I would be too far advanced to treat. Bizarrely I have found that it is not always easy for doctors to be sure it’s back.. scans can be difficult to interpret and scar tissue or dormant nodes confuse the picture. But it sounds like your Mum’s oncology team are on it now.
I don’t know if she was very ill before diagnosis but once on chemo things can change quite quickly. I wasn’t eating and had terrible lung problems but doing much better now. Don’t give up hope... wait to see what the plan is, they may be able to sort out some of her nasty symptoms as treatment begins. Best of luck to you and her xx
I was very unwell on diagnosis, couldn’t eat, couldn’t pass any bowel movements, constantly tired and lost weight. I went on to have treatment and a stoma and very luckily got back to good health. X x
Hi Kerrie. I have got a recurrence after 41/2 years, although I had womb cancer and a high grade serous type in one fallopian tube. This has been ongoing since February, with very similar symptoms to your mum.nausea, bowel problems & chronic pain that felt like the food was going through shards of glass. I thought it was bowel related so I had a colonoscopy where it was found that I had 4 polyps, one quite large, but all were non-cancerous thankfully. Howevr the Consultant was quick off the mark and ordered a further CT scan very quickly & I saw him within 2 days & he advised that although he was not a gynaecologist,he could see evidence of cancer.
After this there was an MDT meeting & an Oncologist called me to tell me that yes sure enough the cancer was back this time in the lining of my stomach, showing 1cm,& 6mm in top of left lung.
Last week I had a biopsy guided with a CT scan to try & find out if it is the fallopian tube type & if so this will be treated the same as for ovarian cancer,if not it will be treated as womb cancer type. I am hoping to receive the results sometime this week. In the meantime to try & hold the cancer back I have been put on a hormone tablet, but to be honest I am not sure it is working as I still have pain & nausea.
I hope that with your mum they look into this quickly & give her some treatment & maybe she will feel better.
I wish your mum well. xx
I was told nothing showed on my CT, after being admitted to hospital with bowel pain. Bowel surgeon said couldn’t see anything wrong.
But the CT was then sent to my head Gynae oncologist. And she could see a tiny hard to spot area on a loop of bowel that looked like recurrence.
We were going to operate to remove it, but a month later I was back in hospital with lung fluid. Mets on the lung lining
I’m now on Chemo tabs. Xeloda. And doing great, my tumour markers have all halved. And no bowel or lung pain. 1st scan coming up 1June.
I would get a few opinions on the CT results.
Thank you for your reply, x wishing you all the best with your treatment x
