How skin cancer develops
Around 90% of skin cancers develop because unrepaired DNA damage to the skin cells caused by over-exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) from the sun and/or sunbeds triggers mutations that cause the cells to reproduce abnormally (grow out-of-control) and form tumours. Colonoscopy Tuesday
Hello Everyone! I have been having mucous/blood in stool problems for several months now. I saw a doctor. Had blood work done and a stool sample taken. Blood work was fine. They did find dientamoeba fragilis in the stool sample but nothing else. I'm not experiencing pain. Most times soft stool. Mucous

This started about a month ago when I started to get this really weird feeling in my lower left abdomen area, it was a mixture of pain but also feels like it is some sort of mass maybe there. As soon

alpha-lipoic acid
hi all, can you take alpha-lipoic acid at anytime of the day away from thyroid meds? I’ve got burning mouth syndrome/metallic taste in my mouth and read the above can help (with vitamin c and L Lysine) but it can interfere with thyroid meds? Many thanks 🙏🏼

STEP ONE OF MY THIRD CLINICAL TRIAL huCAR-T19 IL-18
With the ink barely dry on my clinical trial consent forms, it was back up to Penn Medicine for my blood collection. First stop was the radiology dept to have a neck catheter installed, I decided against the arm extraction method, as it limits your mobility during the procedure. Cath installation complete

uptake increase one spot only
In the PET SCAN world, I’m curious, what happens when one spot shows an increase in avid/activity, but everything else shows stability or even decreases? My scans have been stable and favorable this past year (praise Jesus) after starting letrozole/ibrance 16 mos ago for bone only, lobular, ER+. I have

Will Start Xeloda Soon
Hi. I have msb which is in my bones and small spots on my liver (PIK3CA mutation). I'm searching Xeloda and reading past stories from members here. When Ibrance, Fulvestrant, Xgeva stopped working after 6 mos. of treatment, next were 6 weekly (3 on / 1 off) treatments of Taxol 150 mg which I learned

blood when wiping
I am 51 M. I have been having rectal bleeding for 6 months that looks like this. Sometimes slightly more. Does this look like fresh or old blood. I went to GP and they said they don’t feel an internal hemorrhoid or see a fissure. Does this look like bleeding from colon cancer. I am scared to death

From cancer to Kilimanjaro
hi everyone, I put an update on recently and people wanted to know more. Last year I was diagnosed with stage 3c low grade serous. It was a complete shock and I had no idea i was ill, until it was pretty bad. I underwent a huge debulking surgery and a round of chemo. I am pretty lucky and am now

Detection of a bacterial infection: Procalcitonin test
How to figure out if antibiotics should be considered ? There is a blood test measuring levels of Procalcitonin: if it is below 0.1 ng/mL, a bacterial infection is very unlikely, so antibiotics would be of no help. My question is: how reliable is this indicator, especially on the false negative side

blood in stool with mild rectal pressure
for the last several weeks I’ve had some blood with bowel movements especially after straining. I’ve had some pressure feeling in my rectum off and on. I have horrible health anxiety and fear the worst. I had an mri of my pelvis last year and nothing showed up. Would a tumor in my rectum or lower colon
