Hello Everyone! I have been having mucous/blood in stool problems for several months now. I saw a doctor. Had blood work done and a stool sample taken. Blood work was fine. They did find dientamoeba fragilis in the stool sample but nothing else.
I'm not experiencing pain. Most times soft stool. Mucous is almost always present. Sometimes with blood. Mornings are particularly good heavy. Recently these flat stools. Googling of course has brought me down a colorectal cancer rabbit hole.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Would love to hear any stories of experiences like this, good or bad. I'm absolutely terrified for this colonoscopy. I'll post more pictures.

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to see you're having these symptoms but I'm glad to see you're trying to find answers for them. The first thing you need to do is get is a FIT test. This will determine if there is blood in the stool. This will more than likely come back as positive but it is a test to verify that it is so. Also, you need to know that what you're experiencing could be caused by many different things. Everyone goes down the Google rabbit hole. I think we all do that. The thing to focus on is getting good answers.
I am glad you are not experiencing pain. It sounds to me you are already scheduled for a colonoscopy. I am proud of you. That is the absolute gold standard to determine what's going on. You are doing exactly what needs to be done. Please feel good about that.
I get a colonoscopy every year. I also get a CT scan every year. Those are part of my annual surveillance that I have to go through. My number one tip for the colonoscopy is to move up the “prep” schedule by at least an hour to an hour and a half. If you need to thin the prep out, adding more fluid is not a bad thing. I add lime Gatorade to my preparation as it helps with taste and it has electrolytes (don't add anything red or purple in color). Moving the timeline up lets you get so good sleep the night before. And it helps you the day of the procedure in that you aren't focused on trying to find the bathroom all the time when you are heading to the facility.😁👏👍
I do wish you the best in finding answers. I think you are doing all you can do and you should feel good about that. Focus on doing the “prep” properly so the colonoscopy can do its thing. Also, please let us know what you find out after your colonoscopy. Is that type of information that could be helpful to others on this site.
Thank you,

hi I had this happen to me back in January! had bowel screening late January, within a week I was fast tracked to have a colonoscopy a week later, this is very uncomfortable but worth it in the end you can read my story on this link , everyone was so helpful and supportive, all the best for tomorrow 🤞🤞
I’m doing just great 😊 I'm on a five year watch now ! just more blood tests which came back with normal, so having a sigmoidoscopy! on 25th July, so all good news, just think this time tomorrow your colonoscopy will be done 👌🤞🤞
All done! Proctitis. Prescribed suppositories for the next several weeks. They took several biopsies throughout the colon since they were in there. Now the waiting for the biopsie results.
All clear. They only saw proctitis. Dr said it's something that can and likely will recur occasionally. He prescribed me some more suppositories in the event the symptoms occur again. I. To use as directed. If I run out of them, or the symptoms become worse, I call back and we go from there. A positive follow up.
