I am 51 M. I have been having rectal bleeding for 6 months that looks like this. Sometimes slightly more. Does this look like fresh or old blood. I went to GP and they said they don’t feel an internal hemorrhoid or see a fissure. Does this look like bleeding from colon cancer. I am scared to death. Have had that on and off for years but it seems more persistent this time. Can anyone give me some feedback. Or experience. I am scared out of my mind. Is this a lot of blood. Any opinions are greatly appreciated

Hi worrybigtime,
Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you’re experiencing this. Any time there is blood in the stool it needs to get checked out. You need to get good answers. You’ve already been to your GP and they’ve done an initial test which did not reveal the reason. What did they say the next steps are going to be? I would hope that you’re going to be getting a colonoscopy👍. That will get you some good answers as to why you’re experiencing these symptoms.
Please know that what you are seeing here could be caused by many different things. Are there any other symptoms that you’re experiencing? You need to focus on getting some good answers. Do I think it’s colon cancer? I would not think so. Again, there are lots of different reasons you could be experiencing these symptoms. You need to get some good answers. Focus on doing that. I see it’s giving you some anxiety but I would turn that energy into finding answers. Another question to ask is if there are any hereditary medical issues that run on your family. This is good information for your doctor to know. It may drive what tests you'd be given.
I do wish you the best and getting those answers. Also, please let us know what you find out as it is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,
~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
