for the last several weeks I’ve had some blood with bowel movements especially after straining. I’ve had some pressure feeling in my rectum off and on. I have horrible health anxiety and fear the worst. I had an mri of my pelvis last year and nothing showed up. Would a tumor in my rectum or lower colon show up on an mri.

Hello Emmyg15 I think you should make an appointment with your doctor for help with this 🤍
Hi Emmyg15,
Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate your experiencing this. I would say that if a tumor is big enough it would show up on the MRI. I had a MRI on my shoulder to show muscle and bone structure issues. But there are different tests that have their own benefits as well. For example, as a part of my surveillance for my cancer, I get an annual colonoscopy and a CT scan. I don’t get a MRI.
Were the same symptoms you’re describing here something you are experiencing last year? Are these symptoms the reason you had the mri? Any time there is blood in the stool you need to find out the cause. A physical exam may find the cause. If not, then you should get a colonoscopy. Bottom line, you need to get some good answers.
Please make a note of all the symptoms you’re experiencing so you don’t forget to cover those with your doctor. Another thing to note is if there are any hereditary medical issues in your family. This is good information for your doctor to know as well as it could lead to some more testing that would need to be done.
I do wish you the best in finding out what’s going on. Also know that there are many reasons that could be going on for what you’re experiencing. You just need to narrow things down and get some good answers. Please let us know what you find out as it is this type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,

i did go to the doctor last week and found an anal fissure. He also said that could cause the pressure feeling as well. I just always think the worst and so afraid I won’t be able to see my kids grow up
Ok. Good answers and something to focus on.👍So, I hope you are confident you’re on a path to getting better.❤️. Not focusing on the “worst “ but aiming on getting better 👍🙏👏 and watching those kids grow up 😬👏👍
