APeR surgery and colostomy bag
hi I am due for surgery for rectal cancer in which I will need a permanent colostomy and possibly rectal excision. Understandably I am struggling to come to terms with diagnosis and surgery needed. If anyone has been through this and can let me know what to expect after surgery I would really appreciate

Obstructive defecation anyone ?
So, I've been referred for an anal manometry and and endo anal ultrasound. A digital rectal exam is painful enough so I'm wondering whether these are too? Anyone had one??

Son in Canada looks to Germany for treatment
Our 56 year old son started with colon cancer, which progressed to lung cancer and now a tumor has been discovered by his sciatica nerve. He has been continually been sent for more radiation treatments that don't seem to be working. He has heard of a doctor in Germany who uses different techniques

Bowel Obstruction
Two days ago, I had a difficult time moving my bowels. I finally had to use a strong laxative to clean myself out. Recently I had a sigmoidoscopy, and it did show blood but was told not to be too alarmed. I suffer from ulcerated colitis. Since I moved from one county to another, I have to see doctors

Does Probiotic help with bloating
Hello everyone, wondering if anyone has used a probiotic from a British Company called “BetterVits” it has good reviews but is expensive. I. Prepared to pay if it gets good results. £60 for 3 bottles of 30 or £40 for 1 bottle. They do give a 60 day money back guarantee. The tables contain Lactobacillus

positive FIT test
so I’ve been having blood in my bowel movements on and off for around 6 years. Had 2 colonoscopy’s done previously, first one had some inflammation in the TI but nothing major and second one just had hemorroids. Went for an appointment in March at the hospital and they referred me to have a sigmoidoscopy

Elevated PSA due to Tagrisso?
Hi all: My 79 y.o father has been on Tagrisso for nearly a year now. He just had his PSA levels tested and there's a bit of an increase. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had the same experience? (He does have a history of BPH and experienced urinary urgency soon after starting on Tagrisso.)

Family History
Hi. I have had a positive FIT and have a colonoscopy booked in just over a week. My bowel habits have changed, and there are small black spots in my stool every time I go. I am also suffering from bloating and fatigue. I am just wondering how much a family history increases the chances of my symptoms

Sweetened beverages are associated with a higher risk of differentiated thyroid cancer in the EPIC cohort: a dietary pattern approach
There are many reasons to question our consumption of beverages. Not least, the huge amount of resources which go into their production, packaging and distribution and end up as waste. I think many are aware of the blood sugar issues. However, this paper suggests that there is a link between sweetened

Colonoscopy Prep
Hello, I am prepping this weekend for the procedure on Monday morning. This will be my third colonoscopy. Both of my maternal grandparents had colon cancer so I started at age 45 and go every 5 years. My prep consists of Dulcolax and Miralax mixed with sports drinks. One 238 gram bottle of miralax
