Son in Canada looks to Germany for treatment

Our 56 year old son started with colon cancer, which progressed to lung cancer and now a tumor has been discovered by his sciatica nerve. He has been continually been sent for more radiation treatments that don't seem to be working. He has heard of a doctor in Germany who uses different techniques for a cure.

Has anyone had contact with this clinic or heard of anyone who has? I'm concerned about medical scams that prey on patients in serious condition.

Univ.Prof. Dr. med. Thomas J. Vogl

Specialist for radiotherapy-radiation oncology, neuroradiology and radiology in Frankfurt

Prof. Vogl is one of the most sought-after specialists in interventional radiology throughout Europe. The extraordinary physician also draws attention to himself again and again with the development of new procedures and with many publications.

Transarterial regional chemoperfusion (TACP) and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE)

Thermal ablation of tumors using techniques like laser-induced thermotherapy (LITT), radiofrequency and microwave ablation

Uterine fibroid embolization

Vertebroplasty

Since u mentioned several cancers, which does this German doctor claim to cure? How did u find out about him- is he associated with a hospital- clinic?

Maybe someone from Germany on these sites will be familiar or try to reach out to social media on German sites for some info. Not saying u can trust social media but we have in the US some sites that neighbors give advice on different subjects & we can get good honest info.

It doesn't sound reliable since we are an international group & no one has ever mentioned German doctor who can cure cancer.

Wishing you & your son the very best & lots of prayers. 🙏💕

What I mentioned is all I know - I got that on Google.

This doctor doesn't appear to be a scammer. There's even a Wikipedia page about him, which comes with some appropriate warnings: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tho...

I'm not medically trained and I don't read much about solid cancers, particularly when they have metastasised. Dr Vogl also doesn't list bowel cancer as a primary interest. His expertise in imaging might assist your son in checking if he has any other secondary cancers and perhaps recommendations on how to treat them. Importantly, has your son asked his medical team for their thoughs on Dr Vogl?

Many thanks for your help. Neil. I didn't know about the Wikipedia site. I've passed on your comments about secondary cancers.Cheers - Dan

I could find some articles on the following website:

skepsis.nl/zoeken-op-skepti...

The site is in Dutch, but if you type vogl in the search bar, you will find some articles in the English language.

And I found a critical article: medischcontact.nl/nieuws/la... - in Dutch, but maybe google translate could help you out.

Best wishes,

Els

Hello, Dr. Vogel is professor (radiology) of the University of Frankfurt: radiologie-uni-frankfurt.de.... He should be a serious person. You can find his institute on Facebook too: m.facebook.com/drthomasvogl.... Try to contact his team to ask, if they could help.Wish you all the best!

Good advice! The fact of being associated with an university is assuring. Germans are good at "figuring it out". One of the Covid vaccinations is based on a lab in Germany directed by a scientist from Turkey.

Thanks, Annie. I'd really like to know how it goes.

Almost everything I read about NHS is great. In Canada the provinces run their own medical system, and the one in British Columbia seems to have all but broken down. Impossibly long delays for everything. Here in Costa Rica there is a 2 tier system - private and public. The public health system which is compulsory for citizens and residents is slow, but it works. The private system is excellent and fast, but you pay.

Cheers - Dan

Your son in Canada might contact the Embassy of Canada in Germany, the Consul of Canada in Frankfurt and associations of Canadians in Germany. There are some world-class clinics in Germany which serve international figures.
