Can You Go From Palliative Chemo to Curative Chemo?
Hi All, I have just recently came out of a really bad patch and I am doing a lot better than I expected. During my bad patch my husband was on here quite regularly asking for advice. Thank you all who helped him out. I had two hospital admissions March-April and April-May. I was discharged heavily medicated

C'mon everybody !
So following on from alangardner 's impassioned cri de coeur a few days ago, he got me to thinking. I've cancelled a standing order for something that was a token gesture to a lobby group which used to interest me and doesn't appear to have done much good. In its place, come September, will be a tenner

Dx with rectal cancer in 2011. Six surgeries, chemo and radiation therapy for local recurrences. Tumour is now unresectable and ongoing chemo is helping to keep tumour from growing and spreading. Trying to get my head around the word 'palliative' and it's a battle. Would appreciate advice on living in

Intravenous and Intraperitoneal treatment schedule. To have final cycle of chemo or not? behaviour of ileostomy after intraperitoneal chemo.
I am just wondering if anyone else has the same chemo treatments as I do. After surgery I had one 8 hour seession of (IV) Carboplatin and Paclitaxel chemo. Then I was put on a 21 day schedule. Day 1 consisted of (IV intravenous) Carboplatin and Paclitaxel chemo for 4 hours followed by Intraperitoneal

Radioiodine - do I have unusual resistance?
I've decided to try to understand my situation better before my next appointment with my oncologist. I had a total thyroidectomy for papillary thyroid cancer in 2013, a lump in my right thyroid lobe, followed by 1.1GBq radioiodine ablation shortly after. Six months later I had a follow up ultrasound

Amitizia US Lubiprostone UK for constipation
I have seen my gasto consultant and he has given me this to try. I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if they work for constipation. I have heard the side effects can affect some people. I have tried Prucalopride and Linzess with limited success. They are not cheap as I have to pay privately for

Cancer Prevention - CaPP3 & Aspirin
Taking aspirin reduces number of cancers in lynch syndrome- scientific fact. A world-wide study in which people with lynch syndrome took 600mg a day for 2 years showed a 50%+ reduction in the number of cancers identified after 5 years and the effect continued. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22036019

Does Cancer Run in Your Family?
Does it seem like a lot of your family have had cancer? Is there a pattern of successive generations having similar forms of it? Maybe you have had cancer yourself and felt as if you were relatively young in comparison to the rest of the patients? If so your family may have a hereditary cancer syndrome

Worried Sick
I'm scared to death that I have colon cancer that was missed in my colonoscopy. I'm having lower left abdominable pain and last night there was a lot of blood on the toilet paper. I've had symptoms like this off and on for over a year now with no diagnosis. I'm trying to get in the GI doctor this month

What is Lynch syndrome?
Lynch syndrome (LS) is a genetic disorder that causes an increase in certain cancers at an earlier age than usual.
