Chemical disinfectants and sanitizers linked to thyroid cancer
I don't usually post anything about thyroid cancer - because I feel so ignorant. On this occasion, the prime article, and what is visible of the BMJ article, are a bit easier to understand. [i]

My dad has been diagnosed with a tumour
Hi everyone. My dad recently got tested for bowel cancer, they found an abnormal result so they did a colonoscopy today and found a tumour on his large intestine, they took a sample of the tissue and said he has to await for a CT scan to see what it is and hopefully catch it early. I am worried sick

Recurrent Diarrhoea
Hi, so I'm really struggling with the above and need advice as my GP doesn't seem to be resolving anything. I'm a 33yr old male. In January I went on holiday to India, was really careful with hygiene and sanitation but towards the last couple of days I came down with severe diarrhoea like on the loo

Colonoscopy: nothing to fear from the ‘silver stallion’
Given we are at greater risk of secondary cancers, are you up to date with your faecal occult blood testing (FOBT)? Bowl Cancer Diagnosis
Hi Everyone, I have just had my gastroscopy and colonoscopy today and been told I have bowel cancer. I am lost for words and don't know where to start. I will have CT and MRI scans in the next 2 weeks to determine progression and treatment options (if any) I have had abdominal pain and rectal bleeding

My mum has bowel cancer
Hi, my mum, who is 84ys has bowel cancer, a small tumer 3.7cm in the lining of the bowel. We, she has a massive dilemma, surgery with all the risks that entails, she keeps good general health, or leave it as she is not unwell. On listening to the consultant I thought the best option was to leave it -

Is BC related to bowel cancer?
Can I ask a question? Iam now diagnosed with early stage non invasive bladder cancer. However, in June I had a colonoscopy where they found and removed one large polyp they deemed precancerous. They only retrieved half of it, the other half went pinging round the colon. They repeated the colonoscopy

BRCA 2 positive
Hi all, I recently found out that I am BRCA2 positive. I was disappointed but not surprised when I consider my family history. I'm just wondering what course of action anyone on this forum took when they found out? I was really surprised when the geneticist told me that 60-70% of women have preventive

Anti depressants
Just got prescribed Cipralex for anxiety and occasional panic attacks. I was wondering if any of you had any experience with medication, if they helped in any way, or gave any notable side-effects.

Update
Hi all, first off thanks to all that replied to my "gabapentin" post. Just wanted to update you all, seen gp this morning and she's happy for me to come off the gabapentin. No pain relief mentioned as she is referring me to a organisation called "wellbeing". As for the spinal pain she thinks it maybe

Carcinogenic risk and Bisphenol A exposure: A focus on molecular aspects in endoderm derived glands
The other day I posted about bisphenol and till receipts. This paper suggests some extremly important possible effects of Bisphenol A. Doesn't seem like something I want floating around my pockets... As always, it is research paper - nothing is definite. https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/posts/134778530

Yuck! Time for colonoscopy!!):
I've never had a colonoscopy but instead opted with my dr. to do a fecal occult test yearly. My last blood work found me to be anemic and when I did my last fecal exam they found trace of blood. I've never seen any blood in stool myself nor had any trouble at all with my bowels except for a recent hemorrhoid
