Insulin and prednisolone problems
How do I manage my blood sugars on Prednisolone at 15 mg per day. I am a type 2 diabetic on insulin injections 4 times a day, plus Metformin 2 gms. My blood sugar levels are astronomical in spite of a low carb diet and exercise. Prior to my PMR diagnosis 7 months ago I was attending my gym 3 times per

Low carb rebel (inspired by Rosina1871's question of yesterday)
This was originally going to be a response to Rosina1871, but I then decided to make it a separate post as I would like to see other people's comments on my own experience. I too understood that 'a low carb diet is necessary when on steroids to avoid weight gain', so for a time I diligently followed

Veggie Burger 🍔 and Greek Yogurt: Dinner 🍦
Tonight, I had a Veggie Burger made from pea protein and has no wheat in it. I had a gluten free hamburger bun with sweet relish and yellow mustard. For dessert, I had a peach Greek yogurt that was lower sugar. The total carbs. for the meal was: 60. What did you have for dinner tonight?😀👍

Type 2 diabetes medication shown to benefit asthma patients.
Type 2 diabetes patients who also have asthma are benefitting from a diabetes medication, typically given to help the pancreas produce more insulin, that also improves asthma symptoms and may reduce lung and airway inflammation. These types of medication — GLP-1 receptor agonists — are a newer class

Hi, been lurking a while & have read posts about this but TBH most of it goes over my head as I'm not used to the jargon. My wife & I started Michael Moseley's Low Blood Sugar diet and we're now coming towards the end of week 7. I've lost 10kg but have now been at 87 kg for at least a week and still

What should I do next ?
I'd be grateful for advice on my latest blood test results and recent health history about what I should be doing next. I have hypothyroidism with Hashimoto and the last year has been quite up-and-down. I am now taking 50 mcg/day of Levo (Accord). My health history and blood test results are in my profile

Am I diabetic
Are there any statistics on the likelihood of a 65 yo male with a BMI of 40 having type 2 diabetes? That describes me but my docs are certain (using only HbA1c) that I don't have diabetes. I have a lot of symptoms which tend to suggest I do but they are just dismissing me as a worrier. My HbA1c reading

Introducing Myself
Hi, a good friend recommended this site to me as I’m struggling with my weight, type 2 diabetes and more recently dangerously high blood sugar despite medication. Up to the start of the pandemic I had just about reversed the diabetes, had started to lose weight via a low GI/GL diet and intermittent fasting

Baby and vitamins
Quick question please. I am wondering if I need to give my 6 month old vitamins. He has always in bottle fed but we are Indian and I know Indian people don't normally absorb enough vitamin D. The advice seems to be vitamin A, C and D. What did everyone else do?

Class 4 Medicines Defect Information, Syonell: sodium valproate
From time to time, members have mentioned taking sodium valproate. For that reason, it might be worth my posting this new MHRA alert. [i]

Anyone experiencing possible tendon or ligament lower back of leg and ankle discomfort? Can't determine. Can it be diabetes symptoms?
I'm on 13mls. liquid pred. Just tapered from 15mls. Have been having these new symptoms the last few weeks. Last blood tests elevated glucose. Also increased appetite and depression. Any suggestions or comments welcomed. Thank you.

Lungs, Lycra and Me
Had covid last year, Left my lungs in tatters and from there it was far too easy leap into a huge weight gain, type 2 diabetes and a fatty liver. Decided to try C25k cos I could not stand myself any more. I started 2 months ago after research and finding slow running. Even that was rough, I had to pause

Morning glucose reading
Good morning I have type 2 diabetes can someone tell me what my readings should be in the morning? My GP said under 11 then another doctor told me about 8. Most days I am under 10 on waking up, I go to bed with readings of 6 and wake to 8-9 why do they raise at night? I use a glucomem metre

Blood test came back negative stool sample positive
Hi everyone So I had so tests done to see what was going on with stomach and bowel issues. My bloods all came back fine but my stool said Coeliac disease was present. I have to wait 4 weeks and do another test before they will refer me to gastroenterology. My brother has Coeliac and has had it since

Is there a link between low HDL cholesterol and low vitamin D?
Hello everyone, I recently had some blood test done (quite a few!) and the most of the results were fine but my HDL and 25-hyroxyl vitamin D were low. I've been supplementing with Vitamin D3&K2 for almost a year, and after initially rising from 8 to around 40, it hasn't improved. I still have fatigue

Question on Diabetes/Non-Diabetes Hyperglycemia
Hi. I have a quick question for the community... What's the difference between non-Diabetic Hyperglycemia and pre-Diabetes? I think the last blood test that tells your levels over the last three months was 46 (sorry, can't remember measurement maybe mmol) but the one that is on the cusp of being in
