First Appointment re Stem Cell Transplant
This week I have my first appointment with a stem cell transplant specialist. I haven't made up my mind yet and I'm seeing this as a fact finding appointment. I've made a list of questions to ask: What exactly does it involve, step by step? What can go wrong? And if something goes wrong, what is the

I just received this email from Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts and it's another confirmation as to who is really immunocompromised. Odd feeling
Does anyone experience this? Every so often (maybe once every three weeks) I’m settling down to sleep when I get a strange vibrating sort of feeling in my eyes, head and body. It’s a bit scary. It only lasts about 5-10 seconds but I lay there thinking, am I having a stroke? Heart attack? ... It’s not

Morning all. I have noticed my heart rate running quite fast even during the night. This is a new one for me. I was diagnosed a fib in Jan and take Verapimil and Apixaban. My question is should I try and talk to my gp (if I can) or battle on. Waiting for CV but now just getting a call in Oct. Many thanks

Potato with cheese tomato and onion pie.
Hi everyone, Here's what I made for dinner last night. First I cooked some potatoes in their skin before mashing and blind baking for approx 15 mins. Then I added a tin of tomatoes that I blended first Which I then covered in grated cheese with diced onions herbs and gluten free bread crumbs on top

Blood pressure medication and advice for maintaining a very active lifestyle
Looking for advice please. 63 year old male, born with bicuspid valve, had AVR with mechanical valve and aortic root graft in December 2019. Always been very active (not showing off, but ex-international athlete who then maintained activity in many sports until the lead up to my AVR). The only medication

Neuropathy treatments
Unfortunately as we all know, good treatment for neuropathy is generally poor. I've tried as most people have everything. The only way I control my feet neuropathy is plenty of walking icing and messaging with deep heat before bed. The only medication I take is ibuprofen - one table 400mg give me 50%

Echo findings
Whilst in hospital with fast AF I was given an echocardiogram. This was my first echo in AF. I have an echo every 6 months and the last one was normal except for dilated LA which they said was down to my weight. On top of dilated LA, this echo showed mild tricuspid regurgitation and borderline LSVF

Three and a half years with Mantle cell lymphoma
I got diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in March 2018 when I was 61. As it had already spread from my lymph nodes to multiple organs I was immediately admitted to hospital and began six rounds of Nordic protocol chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell bone marrow transplant. After my transplant I had

Fast heartrate not a symptom of being undermedicated.
Just spoke to doctor and he says if your undermedicated, it will cause bradycardia NOT tachycardia and having read replies to my previous posts, this appears to be untrue. I'm just so frustrated and angry having to deal with doctors who don't know what they're talking about, God help us all!!!
