Odd feeling

Does anyone experience this? Every so often (maybe once every three weeks) I’m settling down to sleep when I get a strange vibrating sort of feeling in my eyes, head and body. It’s a bit scary. It only lasts about 5-10 seconds but I lay there thinking, am I having a stroke? Heart attack? ... It’s not the same a AFib as it is more global.

I haven't a clue what this might be but it sounds rather like your nervous system. It could be a side effect of medication you take which is causing this tremor. Sometimes medication can affect the nervous system. It could also be arthritis of the neck or spine pressing on a nerve. It could be your ears causing inbalance when lying down. I really am shooting in the dark. You don't say how long this has been happening. Have you changed any of your drugs recently? I understand how scary it must be for you. Anything out of the ordinary is frightening. Next time you see the Dr. you could ask what it could be and put your mind at rest. If it's any help to you I get all sorts of weird feelings at times. Take care.

Mmm, problems relating to my neck/spine might well be a possibility. I’ll mention that to my chiropractor. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yep, I get this too, but it seems to be more a vibrating in my ears/head. My HR feels normal/sinus rhythm during these bouts, although they seem to happen more often when my heart has been a bit irritable.

No idea what it is but I try not to worry as it doesn't seem to do any harm.

That’s reassuring. I don’t worry once it’s over and I’m still breathing!

I get what maybe similar, not sure.

In my case I think it's atrial flutter. It's a VERY light feeling of a fast vibration, totally regular, varies in speed, sometimes up to 300 bpm, sometimes less. It feels at first like it's something in the bed or the room, not me. But it is me and I can stop it every time by holding my breath.

I had a 2 week monitor fitted recently and it picked it up. The recording confirmed that it was only going on for a few seconds at a time. I was worried because when I woke up with it in the middle of the night, I didn't know whether it'd been going on for hours, but it hadn't, just seconds. Phew!

At least I am not the only one experiencing these sensations. I was diagnosed with PAF and Atrial flutter a few years ago and now I am on Edoxaban anticoagulant. My fast vibration, as you put it, occurs after I have fallen asleep and then suddenly woken up with a start. During this short episode I would take my pulse and it was always normal despite that sensation. I stopped it by doing breathing exercises. I mentioned this to my cardiologist and he seemed to think it might be due to apnoea so referred me to the Apnoea Clinic but this was just before Covid and I wonder whether I will ever get that appointment. I personally don't think it is due to apnoea but to atrial flutter and I am glad I am not the only one feeling this way.

Others have posted here they feel like they are standing on an underground train station or sitting on a generator. One said it disappeared after their third ablation. My tremor as I call it started out short and sharp but after a bad aFIB episode became permanent for a few months. It was so acute at one stage my GP wanted to send me to a psychologist. Even my electrophysiologist says he’s never heard of it as a symptom and that my loop monitor doesn’t pick it up and yet there’s a small cohort among us who are more susceptible to it. I wish it would go away :-) or it was recognised by a professional to identify the cause.

Have you been jabbed? I know of someone who has, and is having the same problem.

Yes I have - can’t remember the first time I had the tremor though.

I have lone PAF, and have experienced a similar sensation. Mine comes on in the middle of the night. I feel a buzzing vibration ( similar to that of a cell phone set to vibrate) , but in my chest only. Deep breathing seems to make it go away. When I check my pulse, it is normal.

Yes, that sounds about it.

Hi.

I had a strange vibrating in my eyes when I was taking riveroxaban. I was only on it for a couple of weeks and as soon as I switched too apixaban it went away. Didn’t think too much of it until I just read this 🤔 definitely the riveroxaban causing it though 👍

Have you recently changed medication? Or has it been around in conjunction with a meds change?

No, I've been on Apixaban for ages so I'm not sure if that will be the cause.

It was riveroxaban that caused it for me but I’m not saying that would be the cause for you personally. Just something about my body chemistry didn’t agree with riveroxaban in general but for you it could be a reaction to any of the meds you take.
