Heart attack (Stemi) and unable to stent because of ectatic Coronary artery
Last August I had a STEMI. A heart attack which resulted in the complete blockage of the Right coronary artery. When they looked via the angiogram/angioplasty they found that the artery was ectatic. That means apparently that it is not uniform in cross section , and not smooth in end to end shape. They

Statins
I had three mild strokes back in July 2020, I was put on blood thinners and statins, someone has told me that statins affect your liver function and cause damage, I have spoken to my GP about this and he rubbished it, but this is the same GP who failed me with not correctly diagnosing my Helicobacter

Losartan
I have been taking Losartan for one month with no side effects. Previously tried Amlopidine with terrible side effects so could not tolerate it. I had been on Ramipril for about 12 years but when my dose was increased slightly my BP dramatically went up rather than becoming lower - 216/110 I have tried

Does anyone recommend Losartan or Ace inhibitors?
I have issues with Amlodipine: anxiety, dizziness, insomnia. weight gain, exhaustion and have cut down to 2.5 mg with some improvement. Not sure if some of this is pandemic related anyway but have had amlodipine for over a year now and would like to try something else. My current readings are around

When does a pre existing condition cease?
I had a double bypass 2 years ago - everything stable and no problems since the operation. So a few months ago I started looking to see if I had to mention it on travel insurance? I know I have to mention the statins I am taking and a couple of other tablets to keep cholesterol levels down but I did

Final Post Unless Things Change
My GP called last week, they got the letter from the hospital following the Coronary Angiogram. It’s a bit of a strange one as I feel I’ve been left in some kind of limbo land with no real diagnosis. I’ve been taken off Beta Blockers, Statins etc. But was told to keep taking the Isorobide Mononitrate

Newly diagnosed with variant/vasospastic angina (coronary artery spasm) and worried about the future

Alpha Lipoic Acid and anti-Coagulants
I am on Apixaban, Statins and blood pressure tablets. I suffer with thoracic back pain which when it flares is awful, a mixture of muscle and nerve pain. I am only able to take paracetamol which is useless in my case. I have also been advised by the G.P. and pharmacist that I should try Amitriptyline

PCa prognosis after initiation of ADT among statin users.
New Finnish study below. [1] PCa (& other solid cancers) are known to have an increased uptake of cholesterol. In PCa, that is of greater concern, since cholesterol is the starting point for the synthesis of steroid hormones, including androgens. Resistance to ADT can involve the manufacture of androgen

Raised LFT due to Statins
Hi all, Had my bloods done last week and was told I had a raised LFT of 96. Had them repeated this week and it’s now at 182. My cardiac nurse wants to drop my dosage of 80mg Atorvastatin to 20mg and the consultant has agreed. My question is, has anyone else suffered this and how quickly does the liver

New to Hypertension, some assistance please
Hi I'm new to this page having been diagnosed with Hypertension a couple of weeks ago. I was prescribed Amlodipine but that didn't reduce low enough so have now been given Ramipril too. I feel awful since taking Ramipril, at least I'm assuming it's that? My eyes feel 'fluttery', headache, stomach ache

Statins and iBS
Hi, I wonder if anyone takes statins and if they make your IBS worse. My GP wants me to take them but i tried for a week and my tum was really gripey so I stopped them. Do the effects wear off? Otherwise my IBS is more important.

Heart checks
Following a trip to A &E last September 2020 after speaking to GP., symptoms were breathlessness and general malaise. I was told possible lung clots from a blood marker, scan was clear. A slight heart murmer was found, I had high blood pressure and was 2 weeks later diagnosed T2 diabetes. I have had

Prognosis and return to work after ‘widow maker’

I live near a very good specialist hospital and was lucky enough to get rushed to hospital for emergency pci. I had one stent fitted. A few hours later a blood clot developed in the stent so had to have another

CA125 reducing
I had ovarian carsinosarcoma Stage 3b in April 2015 before surgery my CA125 was 133. I had debulking surgery followed by chemotherapy finishing in September 2015. I had no problems until March 2018 when my CA125 started creeping up and consequently I was having 3 monthly checkups mostly with a CT scan

Scared
Hi, I’m feeling scared at the moment. I had a stent fitted in November after suddenly developing unstable angina in October. Apparently I had a mild heart attack. The angiogram showed Proximal stenosis on Ramus intermediate-stent inserted Moderate mid vessel disease in LAD-negative IFR Diffusely mildly
