Non STEMI
I am new here, I had a non STEMI 2 months ago and was prescribed the most common medications, I.e. Ticegralor, Bisoprolol, Artovastatin and Aspirin. I was fortunate that the angiogram and subsequent ultrasound indicated there was no apparent damage to the heart muscle and I have recovered fully. No

Intermittent Claudication and Statin dosage
This forum has been extremely helpful to me in receiving advice on my condition. I am hoping some of you good folks can help me again. I am 80 years old and was diagnosed with PAD almost two years ago. In the past I was a competitive club cyclist. A sport I love. I am lucky and I continue to cycle

Hi everyone, I have just had a video appointment with an endocrinologist, which I was very anxious about, but have been told my cholesterol is way to high and I can’t take statins because of a liver problem that has just come about, I don’t drink alcohol at all and haven’t for 20 years, and then not

Hi 6 months ago I was sent for a CT angiography after getting shortness of breath and pain in my left arm walking up a hill. The scan showed a narrowing in my LAD artery and I was put on asprin & 80mg statins. I have had no further angina symptoms for six months but I have been scheduled to have an angiogram

Does anybody take echinacea?
Hubby has had a cold for a few weeks, PCR test negative. Thought I would buy some echinacea for him. Can’t find out if they are safe to take with his heart meds, beta blockers, statins etc. does any body take these supplements?

To say it's been a very scary feeling, I've been prescribed Beta-blockers, Statins , Aspirin and a GTN spray. my angina is coming on whilst resting and I've had this pain come every day now. I'm due to fly long haul on 2nd Nov but now feel concerned

Statins to be avoided?
Could anyone please tell me which Statins are best avoided. I am currently taking Ramiprill 2.5mg once a day, having changed from one that I noticed was a definite no-no for restless leg suffers (sorry I can’t remember the name of them). I am now finding these appear to be making my legs much worse

Why do you need cholesterol?
This was copied from an email I got so don’t go shooting the messenger if you don’t agree :). “I have been trying for years, decades actually, to raise my cholesterol. Finally after a more significant (call it strict if you like) change in diet, it’s happening and that’s a good thing. You see, low cholesterol

Plant Sterols and Levothyroxine
Being hypothyroid my cholesterol levels have been quite high-last reading was 7, 2 years ago. Have been using a proactive margerine as don't want to go on statins. Has anyone had any success with plant sterol supplements? Are they tolerated with levothyroxine? Any anecdotal experiences would be appreciated

Time for a sea change?
I see that we are still advising people (seniors no less) to taper off prami - the worst of the worst. To me that’s equal to jumping in front of a freight train. The suffering is too great. I have unilaterally decided that the only way to do this is to first switch to Neupro, get the person comfortable

Second opinion procedure?
Hi, In July I had a follow up appointment with a cardiologist at my local hospital. About two years since the last one. She was friendly and efficient but afterwards I felt dissatisfied. She took one BP reading but didn't show me the results. None of the tests I have had so far have shown more than

So I'm a 44yr old female in Wales who had been referred to the Cardiology Dept in Cardiff due to non-specific chest pain and multiple palpitations regularly. My father needed a triple heart bypass surgery age 52 and sadly died of a heart attack age 60. He smoked for decades until he stopped age 52 and

Doctors Differ - Patients Die. The problem of taking a doctors lead
Healthunlocked and the mods of the forums regularly advise us not to blindly follow the advice of randomers we meet in the Web. We are told to always consult our doctors before embarking on a new path. And rightly so: there are outright loonies on the Web and the idea that we know better than trained

CHILD-PUGH SCORE
Scottish female age 64 years. I've recently been diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis Cirrhosis . I'd no idea. May have been caused after 40 years of taking Statins for high cholesterol but equally may be hereditary. My letter states my Child-Pugh score is 5 which I note is level A in some literature

Feeling unwell 8 weeks after fracture
As I've posted before I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in April with a t score of -3.9. I have a compression fracture of the L2 vertebrae and 8 weeks ago I fractured my shoulder. I've got my sling off now and under physiotherapy care but I can't seem to feel 100% at all. It's as if I have no energy
