Could anyone please tell me which Statins are best avoided. I am currently taking Ramiprill 2.5mg once a day, having changed from one that I noticed was a definite no-no for restless leg suffers (sorry I can’t remember the name of them). I am now finding these appear to be making my legs much worse and I feel totally exhausted either from side effects or lack of sleep! Thanks.

Statins to be avoided?
NHS consultant cardiologist Aseem Malhotra says that statins are only likely so prevent a second heart attack for one percent of patient. Thete are two types of ldl cholessterol and only one of them is bad, but the test can't tell you which yoi have, the only wayto tell is by having a trst for triglycerides and if that is higher than the cholesterol then you should take steps to lower it. Cholesterol is blamed for cardiovascular problems when actually it is the result, not the cause. In older people high cholesterol is beneficial. The treatment is a change of diet.. Have a look for his book 'A statin free life'. The good news is thst the diet will probably reduce if not eliminate your rls as well.
Doctors have a stigma when referring to Cholesterol- statins. Not everyone suits it though, as in life we are all not the same. My wife was too sensitive to statins and is successfully on ezetimebe. It may be an option for you?
Thank you for your replies, I will certainly look for the book. I had already decided to first have a try at reducing my cholesterol by diet.
