has anyone managed to talk sense into their GP when reviewing medication for hashimotos in the UK?
does anyone have any experience or success in getting their GP to review levo dose based on t4/t3 levels and not just ths? My TSH was 0.5 so GP reduced my levothyroxine from 112mcg to 100mcg daily. I had bloods done privately that showed the following: Tsh 0.28- range 0.27-4.2, T4 17.8 - range 12-22

Early 40s and been diagnosed with very early stage atherosclerosis
This was during a scan because of post-Covid issues. It seems I have a calcium score of a little over 3, which is tiny in itself but puts me on a percentile to have much more severe blockages by my mid-50s, and from everything I've read there's no real way of avoiding this (although I can slightly improve

Baricitinib and highCholesterol levels
Hi All. Have just had some bloods done and they're showing an increase in LDL lipids and HDL lipids so overall total is 6.7. Interestingly, my level has increased since being on Baricitinib since 2019 and I suspect I’m going to have to go onto statins to counteract the effects of the drug! Nothing in

Mild Fatty and mild enlarged liver
I am confused can your liver be fatty and not be enlarged? I saw a general Dr who said these are two different things but everything I am reading online says mild enlarged fatty liver, like they go together. I had the U/S done because , my ALT 37 when it should be under 32. I have recently gained

Statins
I have a gp appoinment today to discuss starting statins as my cholesterol is high. This was at the request of a specialist, not gastro or neuro. I have requested the test results. No connection has been made to pernicious anemia or my malabsorption/exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. I also have chronic

Oral B12 Update
I last wrote a post about 11 months ago in which I was exploring the use of oral B12 while waiting for a specialist appointment. A lot has happened since then and I have waited to reach a conclusion before posting an update. I have decided to summarise my findings rather than ramble on: 1. I found the

Statin side effects
Hubby on statins following HA and stent fitted three years ago. Has been experiencing for last three months really bad thigh muscle pain and cramping. Reading the medical leaflet with his statin wondering if this is a side effect. He is on Rosuvastatin having been switched from Atorvorstatin about 18

Help with blood results please!
My background is this: I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 1998, by which time, I was in a bad way. My starter dose was 25 mcg, increased by 25 mcg until I reached 150 mcg which, tested showed, was correct. I am tested every year and am now on 75 mcg. I had 2 NHS blood tests last year, in July and November

Thoughts on Dr. Malcolm Kendrick?
I am new to this site, a retired Canadian nurse with high blood pressure and frequent PVC issues. I have read all of the British GP Dr. Kendrick’s books, and am curious about what sense others may have of his opinions. I know he has been vehemently dismissed by the medical establishment as anti big

What has just happened?
Hi all, it's 5.30am, suddenly woken to cold sharp central chest pain, sat up, cold sweat all over, raging pins & needles both hands, I woke my wife told her I was in trouble and by 7.30am I was on the coronary care ward, 2 emergency stents fitted wondering what the hell happened. That was 3 weeks ago

Switch from HU to Pegasys - update 3.0
Great news from my haematologist: Platelets down from 395 to 337, Hb 153, Hct 0.447. Liver, thyroid and renal profile fine; so too neutrophils and lymphocytes! So, after nearly 15 months of HU, I’m stopping it as of today and carrying on with 45mcg Pegasys per week. She hinted I could eventually switch

Vasculitis vs arteriosclerosis, getting pregnant after a CABG and statin/diet questions!
Hi! I’m 34 and have just had a CABG, I’m 6 weeks post op and feel almost back to normal. Yes, I know, I’m young and have bounced! They think that my coronary arteries were damaged by vasculitis I (might) have had when I was 19, it wasn’t diagnosed at the time as I had just classic viral symptoms although

Yet one more Metformin and statins query
Please spare me the guffaws and head shakes for asking once again about the value of these two medications in treating prostate cancer. I ask because I was informed recently that they may be beneficial if one has received radiation treatments particularly. No, my witch doctor did not tell me this.
