Hi everyone, new member here. I've been reading a lot of posts on the forums, and it's good to know I'm not the only one having problems with medication after a heart attack and stent fitted.
I've been prescribed aspirin, clopidogrel, beta blockers, blood pressure tablets and statins, and to be honest I've had quite a few side effects like so many on here.
I've had no follow up appointment with the cardiologist (whoever that may be!) since I was discharged on 31 December. Although my GP was originally sympathetic with me and altered a couple of the doses of tablets, I have been quite anxious at times because I am getting pains across my breasts and especially in my breast bone (sternum) and across both the right and left hand side of my chest, and he said all my pain is caused by my anxiety. He made me feel as if I was a hypochondriac.
I've been back to A&E twice because of this pain thinking it was another heart attack, but was told it was wind coming up because of the aspirin/clopidogrel. I'm taking pantoprazole intermittently because all the other gastro tablets make my stomach worse. It seems like a catch 22 situation at times.
I've tried to get a follow up appointment with the cardiologist but was told it's been delayed because of covid. I'm sure one of the tablets is causing the pain and after 3 months I feel I'm not really moving on as some days I feel unwell and the whole situation has knocked me sideways.
I've had breast cancer twice in the past 7 years and it sounds daft I know, but somehow it seemed easier to bear than the whole situation I feel myself in now.
Apologies for the long post. I'm just so grateful that there's others on here to share problems with, so thank you.
Lily
