Beta Blockers and Vagal Afib
So in a small comment on a blog a year or two ago I saw a doctor state that beta blockers can actually irritate vagal afib. As I was coming up to my colonoscopy last week, I started taking 1 atenolol in the morning again just as a safety thing because I was worried all the digestive uproar would cause

changing med for Afib
I was having a lot of lightheadedness and dizziness so my doctor Put me on only one atenolol pill and left me on 2 Flecainide and also took me off of my blood pressure pill. This Seem to be a change as I have been on a blood pressure pill for many many years. I will let you know how it turns out.

Atenolol
Anyone any experience of atenolol as replacement for Bisoprolol or Diltiazem ? 2.5mg Bisoprolol wasn’t helping and 5mg made me feel like a zombie. GP switched me to Diltiazem 120mg twice daily. Not had any noticeable side effects but at same time haven’t really noticed any improvement. Consultant has

Blood Pressure tablets.
Can anyone help in regard to blood pressure tablets that do not have much in the way of side-effects. Currently I am taking Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg which are fine. Because my blood pressure is now slightly raised I need to take a different tablet. I have tried Amlodipine and Rampril 2.5 mg - both

Switch from Diltiazem to Atenolol for SVT
Hi I have been on 90mg slow release Diltiazem twice a day for SVT, after being unable to tolerate 5mg Bisoprolol. Still not seeing much improvement. Cardiologist has written to gp saying I can either increase Diltiazem to 120mg twice daily, or switch to Antenolol. He feels that beta blockers are a better

AFIB (has (possibly) Saved my life!
This is my first contributory post & is quite long but hopefully will be useful to a few of you! Yes - unbelievably AFIB ihas been a potential life saver as it uncovered a potentially life-threatening condition, this being a Dilated Aortic Root (which can develop into a thoracic aneurysm ) This was

Blood Pressure tablets
I have raised blood pressure. Prof. Graham Hughes recommended Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg tablets. These have been very good. However my blood pressure has risen slightly - I have tried amlodipine 5mg and also Ramipril 2.5mg and I have had side effects from both. My GP is not very helpful. Anybody

Raynaud's Dr.'s Appt. Outcome Am I Expecting Too Much
I actually had an appointment with just the rheumatologist. First time with no residents. Now I see like Kay said, the residents are important. The doctor did no examination . He did ask about the prescriptions he gives me and although my file was in front of him, he seemed not that versed in what they

Confused about osteoporosis treatment
Hi all, in 2019 whilst lifting my suitcase at the airport I had a horrendous pain in my lower back. Fast forward a few months finally got a x-ray which showed a compression fracture of L2. Finally got a dexa scan in April 2021 and confirmed osteoporosis of the spine with a T score of -3.9. My doctor

Post Catheter Ablation
I'm 72, fit, considered generally healthy, although I had an ablation 7 days ago. It went 'smoothly' according to the electrophysiologist. This treatment came as a choice after 2 years of Paroxysmal AF episodes. My symptoms were very pronounced. The 'pill in the pocket' didn't really help me. However

Questioning everything
This is mostly a venting so I apologize, I just need to get some things out of my head. I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. I've definitively and repeatedly connected it to my digestive system. In my most recent encounter with a doctor directly after I had been taken via ambulance to

Update on seeing Electrophysiologist - and fed up.
Hi All, I’m a bit fed up. I wrote a couple of weeks ago about the fact I’d arranged a private appointment with an EP at my local hospital this week, as I was fed up with waiting for a follow up with my cardiologist which should have happened in January. I’m paroxysmal AF, formally diagnosed last September
