I'm 72, fit, considered generally healthy, although I had an ablation 7 days ago. It went 'smoothly' according to the electrophysiologist. This treatment came as a choice after 2 years of Paroxysmal AF episodes. My symptoms were very pronounced. The 'pill in the pocket' didn't really help me. However, I'm back in AF again today. Is this likely to occur while my heart overcomes the effects of the procedure and settles down? I continue to take daily meds - Amiodarone 200mg, Atenolol 25mg and Xarelto 20mg.

Post Catheter Ablation
Please r ead our fact sheet below which will explain lots of things you will experience. Recovery is not instant, in fact it is long and winding but worth it all in the end. You are normal.
Thank you for the excellent fact sheet. I don't so alone after reading it and feel I want to say to everyone in the Community, 'Be well, stay well '
Hi, I had my ablation last August and had a bad episode of af almost the next day. Nothing as bad since then although I had some mild episodes as everything settled down. This is very early days for you so get as much rest as possible and allow your heart to heal. As Bob says, you are normal
How are you feeling today? just to reiterate BobD's reply to your message, yes, it is perfectly normal to experience AF episodes post-procedure, however, this does not mean the ablation was unsuccessful.
Bob has recommended our patient information sheet 'Recovering from an Ablation' which may offer some helpful advice and other side effects you may experience, but of course, these can vary from person to person.
