Since your recommendation re meds aggravating and/or causing RLS I have taken myself off statins and Amitriptoline. My Dr refused to change them I'll post that conversation later.
I am 80 and have been taking Ropinerole for the past 2yrs 6months
Since December 7th I've reduced Ropinerol from 2g to 1.5g it's hell but know its necessary to take it slowly as advised. Since I began my legs are always cold, antsy, painful and shooting pain from thigh to calf, sometimes the base of my foot. The past week pins and needles on the left side of my head 24/7. Restless legs proper start 2pm and continue 'til 9pm after I take Ropinerole. Wake anytime from 1-4am then start walking or bouncing my legs.
I've taken all the triggers that could be problems out of my diet so need to find possible others.
I am taking B/P meds Ramipril, Atenolol,, Amlodipine. Clopidogrel following a TIA. Zapain 2 nocte.
Vits. D3 4000iu, B Complex, Fullnesium, CardioDefence.
Are there any problems with these you know of please?
Thank you so much I don't know what I'd do without you! God bless you all.

Thank you Sue, Madlegs and Joolsg I'll be looking into alternatives 're natural herbs and essential oils. Even though I'm a calm person and take things as they come but since you've enlightened me I've become .
more bothered that there are meds prescribed that make patients so much worse than they need to be and I have to make a written statement to all doctors in my practice and as many others as I can, this cannot go on. My local newspaper may take it up. I'll keep you posted. X
If you get yourself a copy of the book 'A Statin-Free Life' by Aseem Malhotra you'll find that statins are overrated and that you can accieve more by changing your diet. The diet to control colesterol will also most likely reduce your rls.
Take Eryl's recommendation seriously. I read 'A Statin-Free Life' and was convinced to adopt a low inflammation diet (essentially low/no refined carbs) and some lifestyle changes. My health (and RLS) has improved dramatically. I can't endorse this highly enough.
P.S. - I was not even using statins. It's about inflammation, not cholesterol.
Yes, you're so right. I'm not able to see the changes I've made in my bloods so far, I'm looking for a private lab to do a range of blood tests. In the Jonathon Landsman focus above, he was informing that cholesterol is not the problem as you've said. I only took statins for a few months following a TIA. Now looking at turmeric to thin my blood naturally rather than blood thinners. Thank you so much for kindness and positive encouragement.
