advice on sulfasalazine and the sun
I have been told by my rheumatologist nurse that I need to start taking sulfasalazine for my reactive arthritis, as I had a steroid injection after taking steroids orally, but it’s still not keeping the joint stiffness at bay completely . I’m not happy as I was under the impression that reactive arthritis

PMR & Osteoarthritis in Knees
I have been added to the waiting list for knee replacement. I am trying to loose weight which I feel will help the pain in my knees. They can be very stiff some days and difficult to bend and I do get pain in the back of my thighs and shin splint pain too. I wonder if this is part of PMR ? I would hate

Anti-rheumatic drugs could prevent thyroid disease
Many have asked why autoimmune thyroid disease is not itself treated - just the loss of thyroid production. Well - have a read here! Published: 22-11-2023 10:06 | Updated: 22-11-2023 14:53 Anti-rheumatic drugs could prevent thyroid disease Anti-rheumatic drugs

QUICK TAPER; CRP RISING STEADILY; FLARING
As suspected, the very quick taper rheumy thought up (2.5 mg per week til I get to 10, then reducing 1 mg per month), has caused a flare and I'm in pre-PMR pain - almost). Currently at 12 mg but should be down to 9 by now, if I was to go with her guidelines. GP refuses to let me up the pred saying "it's

hot flushes
I’ve struggled with these for about twenty years and they have diminished over time. However, since going on preds, just over five weeks ago, they have got worse. Checks after stopping Prednisolone?
I was diagnosed with temporal
arteritis
in Nov 2021 and put on 40 mg of Prednisoline. This has reduced, though dose had to be raised when I had severe headaches. Now down to 1 mg next week and then supposed to stop. 1. I think I will still have symptoms.

How can they really know?
I'm a bit perplexed as to how they can really tell the difference between OA and RA.I have heard of so many people that are told they have RA, to later be told it's OA. My arthritis symptoms have changed somewhat and are affecting other areas of my body and I don't know whether to bother mentioning

Charity request for help: GCA patients in England
Dear members with GCA, as you may be aware, NICE and NHS England don't currently allow repeat treatment with tocilizumab for GCA patients who relapse. This means that if you live in England and you've had a year's treatment with tocilizumab, you won't be prescribed it again. However, a recent study
