Venlafaxine
I spoke with a doctor in a Pain Clinic recently. As I have advanced kidney disease and I am on blood thinners (Warfarin) I am finding it difficult to find ways of managing my pain. He has suggested Gabapentin or Venlafaxine. I have heard of Gabapentin being used for fibromyalgia but wondered if anyone

Anyone experienced internal bleeding after taking Ticagrelor and aspirin at the same time?
I was taking these 2 drugs after a heart attack and a stent fitted in 2016 (Ticagrelor only for 1 year) without a problem. After a 2nd stent was fitted in late 2020, I experienced internal bleeding even though I was prescribed lansoprazole to protect my stomach. I stopped taking the aspirin and the

Should everyone on Warfarin be told on the official Gov. Covid Vaccinaton Form to get their INR checked post Covid Vaccination?
I know we on Warfarin are routinely told to notify our Anticoagulation Team of any changes, such as: Being in hospital, missing a dose of Warfarin, any unexplained bruising/ bleeding or starting any new medications. But it did not occur to me that my 2 Pfizer vaccines might adversly affect my INR level

Heart meds and vaccination
I am worried. Astra Zeneca jab booked tomorrow, No one is saying whether my meds for Atrial Fibrillation and High blood pressure, plus blood thinners are an advantage to the blood clot risk or not? I am over 65..My doctor is not knowledgeable and I live in France

Ovarian cancer
Hi don’t know if anybody can help, my mum had fluid in her right lung due to the horrible cancer, she had it drained two weeks ago, but it has come back they think or may just be sore from the drainage. I know that hopefully when she starts her chemo next week it should clear up, but at present she

"More comparative data for AstraZeneca covid vaccine risks, may need adjustment for APS patients with higher thrombosis risk, but on anticoagulation which could potentially reduce risk. We will update as more data is available but some reassurance for those who had the vaccine."

Ablation and silent A Fib
Have just read a recent thread concerning anticoagulation and bleeding risk, and one contributor stated that another risk is atrial fibrillation episodes post ablation and the need therefore for
anticoagulants
even when an ablation is successful.

Edoxaban switch
I have just had a phone call from the pharmacist at my GP surgery. Because recent blood test indicated that my kidneys are not functioning well, he is suggesting that I change from Apixaban to Edoxaban 30mg as this will ensure that there will not be an excess of anticoagulant in my body which could

Anti coagulants: terminology. Ongoing annoyance!
It is me? Went for my second vaccine last week and was asked if I’m on ‘blood thinners’. It’s always tempting to say no. Why is the public constantly being exposed to this incorrect term? I find it demeaning and patronising when, in a medical setting, this incorrect term is used. We are not stupid: why

Pregabalin pramipexole and antibiotics
Hi I have been on three sets of antibiotics for an infection but my question is can these drugs cause a feeling of unbalance and also fainting feeling especially when standing up from a seating position I think it may be the pramipexole causing the problem which seemed to coincide with starting pramipexole

Cardioversion and Blood Pressure
Hi I had a Cardioversion 3 days ago which was successful and am now in sinus rhythm (SR) for the first time in 9 months. I am taking 50mg of flecainide twice daily and only 2.5mg of Bisoprolol daily as well as an anticoagulant (Apixaban). Prior to the cardioversion my blood pressure was quite low on

Anyone on blood thinners?
Last summer a hairdresser mistakenly ripped out an ear ring on my left ear (I have two piercings on each ear), and I had to let it heal closed. I am on warfarin now and was wanting to get it pierced again, but am wondering if I can on blood thinners?

Urinary issues
Hi everyone here’s hoping you have some advice. I’m on ruxalitanib for my MF and doing ok apart from repeated urinary infections. I wondered if anyone else had the same problem. I would like to reduce the amount of antibiotics I am having. I am on a blood thinner so that limits my choices!

INR and DOACs
Something to share with you all. After a bump to the head, I ended up in A and E. The triage nurse said that he wanted to have my INR checked, even though I had told him that I was on Edoxaban not warfarin. 'Yes,' he said, 'but when you have a head injury, these 'blood thinners' can cause bleeding on

Heart in constant a fibrillation, help advice
My husband had cardiac arrest on 3/5. After cpr and being shocked 2x his heart began again. He had a catheterization done in the hospital and a defibrillator put in the next day. He has no heart blockages. They cannot find what or location creating his continued a fib. So ablation is not an option
