Medical travel insurance
Following recent posts about travel insurance I'm going on a 24 day cruise to Canada in September and thought as my annual policy expires in August I'd do some exploration as to costs. Totally frightening - some of the quotes even for a single trip came up nearly as much as the cruise itself and don't

Crazy thoughts and feeling like a victim
This has become a big mental health issue for me. My neighbors hire commercial pest control companies that use pressure washers and gas-powered backpacks to broadcast their chemicals as a cloud of aerosol droplets that drift in the air and fill the surrounding neighborhood. For the fourth year, My

Changing from Adoxaban to Apixaban … what to expect?
Good morning forum. While waiting for a second cardioversion the medics have decided to change my anticoagulant from Adoxaban to Apixaban (the low dose Adoxaban I was on until this morning could be a bit borderline if I put on just a pound or two weight). A bit fed up as this delays the cardioversion

Heat, long bowls match or GTN spray what caused 7 hours in A&E ?
Due to go back for my 3 months post ablation check a week tomorrow & have been feeling great so maybe testing the boundaries on exercise.I have been bowling 3 or 4 times a week but yesterday it was very warm & game went on for an hour.Struggled with it and had a familiar pain that I used to get often

I have just read a 'Healthline' publication dated January 2023 about the long term effects of blood thinners and
anticoagulants
. I am a bit concerned with the content of this article and would like members of our group opinions.

Mechanical or biological valve?
I had an aortic valve replacement three years back and was given the choice of going mechanical or biological. I was told that if you are under 65 you should go mechanical and over 65 biological. I was 65. The only other thing I was told was that mechanical would mean popping a blood thinner every day

My Dad had been having stroke like symptoms with slurred speech and right arm paralysis. He was sent home with diagnosis of stroke with blood thinners and statin following an MRI. However 6 weeks later he was deteriorating rather than improving and re-admitted to hospital. Following an MRI with contrast

Severe arrhythmia but only minor symptoms
This is the first time I’ve posted on this particular forum rather than BHF. During a routine checkup in 2019 I was found to have an erratic heart beat, I’d had no symptoms, Chest pain or breathlessness. Subsequent investigations found a leaky mitral valve . I was placed on anti-coagulants, my condition

SoB 1 month out from EP Ablation
I'm 67 years old, with hi-BP and asthma. I've never had heart trouble. My BP was controlled with meds for decades. I first went into AF in Nov 2020 with cough from the flu. At that episode, it went away by itself after cough was cured. My FamDr sent me to Heart Dr and he did an exploratory look

Loss of appetite?
Hi everyone. It’s been a long time since I have posted but I haven’t forgotten about this forum. My first post was made when I was in university but now I’ve graduated and have started the big girl life with a big girl job. My dad switched from Zytiga to Chemo this year. His left leg has gone numb

BTK Inhibitor Therapy for CLL: An International Perspective - Stephan Stilgenbauer, MD
This is especially problematic for patients who also develop ibrutinib-associated atrial fibrillation, because atrial fibrillation is often treated with
anticoagulants
. Consequently, many patients who develop these AEs must temporarily—or sometimes permanently—discontinue ibrutinib therapy.

Upped my prednisone for knee inflammation and now I'm not sure how to reduce back to 1.5 mg.
You all have so much good advice on reducing prednisone which helped be to successfully reduce my dose to 1.5 mg, which I have been on for quite some time. (Many months, but reluctant to keep going as I was having other issues and didn't want to rock the boat further.). Recently my knee became swollen

Anxiety is off the scale. Please help me
hi, as most of you who have read my posts over the 10 days I’m having the most horrendous time. Story cut short, went to A&E on the 12 May with shortness of breath and horrendous pain in my back. Was quickly diagnosed with blood clots on my lung. Given blood thinners and sent home. Fast forward to Tuesday
