Bruises on forearms

Had a double bypass on 14 Dec 2020 and I get lots of bruises on my forearms. Spoke to my GP and he said it was from blood thinners which I need to stay on. Anyone else suffer from those. Very embarrassing in the summer. Thanks and keep well.

Hi Bishop1,I think your right this is a side effect of the the thinners. I have been on them since last September but to be honest only just noticed the bruising recently but I think this down to the dog jumping all over me.

Stay safe & well.

Thank you. Take care x x

Yes, most people on blood thinners suffer with easy/bad bruising.

Aspirin, which most are also prescribed, will add to the effect.

But they are both essential drugs post heart op. The blood thinners for a year, normally. While aspirin is for life again, normally.

Hi,

Have to agree with Gaz_chops it’s the blood thinners, I only have to have a itch on my arm scratch it and look like I have hit a wall!

Best wishes Pauline

Hi, I am having the same issue with bruising but I am getting them in other places too, even if I have an itch, I get a bruise from scratching & I have also been told it is the blood thinners, which I am on for another 11 months.

Yes, I was out playing golf one day and ever so slightly jarred my right arm. Thought nothing of it, but by the next day my forearm looked as if someone had hit me with a baseball bat. My GP had a look at it and after blood tests etc concluded it was down to the aspirin. Said its an unfortunate side effect. I've just accepted now that I'm going to bruise easily.
