Off Topic - Amputees
I recently had a BKA
amputation
on the left due to complications as a result of (diabetes related?) PAD (peripheral arterial disease). Currently I am getting a few issues that would be outside the scope of this forum.

Off Topic - Amputees
Whilst I have posted about my recent
amputation
due to complications as a result of PAD (peripheral arterial disease) here I am now getting issues that are outside the scope of a heart and circulation forum. Healthunlocked do not seem to have a forum for amputees and those supporting them.

Monitoring PAD
Since the
amputation
of my lower left leg due to complications of PAD I have obviously been concerned about the wellbeing of my right leg going forward. I have had two follow up telephone appointments with vascular services.

After an above knee (AKA) or below knee
amputation
(BKA) you have to wear a special stocking, called a Juzo, to help shape the stump and prevent issues like a "bell end" which make fitting a prothesis challenging! Because I had issues with the wound I still have a dressing to protect it.

Dadâs advice some years ago; âIf you get into a fight in the pub, put a snooker ball in your sock.âWorst advice ever, I could hardly walk! . .My girlfriend is fed up of my constant wordplay jokes. I asked her, "What can I do to stop my addiction?" She said, "Whatever means necessary." "No it doesn't

Neutrophilic dermatosis of the dorsal hands, a variant of Sweet's syndrome.
[CASE-STUDY] Red Plaque on the Dorsal Hand With Necrosis: Think Before You Amputate. An 82-year-old man with a history of myelodysplastic syndrome developed a red and swollen left index finger. He was diagnosed with probable cellulitis (bacterial skin infection) and started on intravenous antibiotics

Loving Strength & Flex, feeling like a new woman
Luckily my dad refused the recommended
amputation
saying he felt sure I would rather have it there for appearance even if it wasnât much use. Anyway now the weak knee is bending as much as the other one.

Hello! I'm new here and seeking help from fellow sufferers from a symptom that no doctor has been able to diagnose.
[i] I have had SS with all crest symptoms for 40 years. 3 years ago I had a below the knee
amputation
on my right leg due to ulcers. I have a strange sensation that no doctor or specialist has ever come across up to now. Please has anyone experienced the same?

A Large Step In My Journey!
As it is part of the same Trust that did the
amputation
I always find this going back to year dot a bit weird. There were also questions about one's education and career.

Phantom Pain
As many of you will have read I had a left leg BKA (below knee
amputation
) a month ago today due to complications of PAD (peripheral arterial disease). With tens of thousands of members I cannot be the first or last amputee.

My New Leg - A Step Forward
The muscle loss in five weeks is incredible particularly around the left hip (the side of the
amputation
. Anyway walking physio started in ernest last Tuesday. Yesterday after a week (we had a bank holiday weekend with no walking physio) I had hit all targets for moving on to the next stage.

One Legged Jokes
As many of you will know I had a BKA (below knee
amputation
) just over three months ago. I am feeling a bit down so I felt the need for a few jokes! When I was using the ATM the man behind me (socially distanced) asked what was taking me so long. I said I was checking my balance!

You guys have been posting lovely pictures so I thought Iâd share one too. Meet Maxine/ Mad max, she was hit by a car before animal services picked her up and they decided to amputate. She spends most her days bathing in the sun or trying to be a lap dog đ

Diabetes amputations taking off in Italy
From Medscape: 'Italian patients with diabetic foot ulceration (DFUs) suffered mightily during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in that country, according to a newly published study. Amid a mandatory national lockdown, the rates of amputations skyrocketed at a hospital far from the hardest-hit
