I recently had a BKA amputation on the left due to complications as a result of (diabetes related?) PAD (peripheral arterial disease). Currently I am getting a few issues that would be outside the scope of this forum. Healthunlocked do not seem to have a forum for amputees and those supporting them. Before requesting HU to start one up I was wondering how many amputees and/or those that support them there were on this forum who would be interested in such a forum?

Hi Michael, I'm not an amputee, but good luck in your quest to find others you can come together with to support each other. It is the best way to chat with others who can really relate to the problems you face. But meantime we are, of course, really happy to try and help, if and whenever you want! 😊
Outstanding, and yes Activity2004, has and is helping me-I am not an amputee, but can only imagine what one would go through. I wish you well on your journey
Hi Michael, your problems have given me a prompt to go and see my GP. As a long term diabetic I am concerned that the circulation in my legs and feet is not as good as it used to be. Hope you continue to improve, next years Marathon maybe!
If I thought I was unlucky this story makes me feel lucky. When I signed the consent form for my amputation I was told I was 48 hours from developing sepsis! One of my best friends died of it eight years ago when it wasn't really on the radar. He collapsed and was taken to hospital. Two days later they diagnosed with sepsis - he died six hours later!
