At approximately 7:40pm (on 2/10/2020) we hit 21,000 members when @buyingaboat joined the forum. Why not post something about yourself.

The true figure is somewhat lower as a few people have forgotten their IDs and rejoined. In addition there are some who have multiple IDs. I did not post at 20,000 as I was still quite poorly after my major infection and BKA (below knee amputation)!

This forum helped me so much, I thank everyone here for the positive feed back I get when the blues kick in, the more members we have the more backing we get. Thank you all, keep safe, take care. Ruth

When I joined it was just over the 6500 members, the numbers have been steadily growing. I thank each and every one of you for the continued support we all get from each other. For your good advice and the smiles you have given me.

Just sorry that new members mean people are going through their own heart issues.

Best wishes to each and everyone of you

Pauline

That’s amazing Michael, thanks for sharing. Im recovering from 2 HA’s Myocarditis & Pericarditis with permanent damage to my heart. Its been a LONG scarey road (Oct 2018) but this forum has been a massive help, you’ve all been so supportive & inspirational. THANK YOU ALL, especially you Michael - i love the jokes!

Well it's barely light here and pouring with rain. Although I have a light over the bed I would like to turn on the room light but find myself a leg short. I have looked under the bed but it's not there! 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks Michael

This is a great place for support and advice, I have a bicuspid valve with enlarged aorta and was so scared when I found out but all the people on here made me feel at ease

Great place

Indeed 21000 is a lot of folk. Great site and just so caring and informative. I hope you are on the mend MJH and the fittings went well.

Hi Ian... My visit to the Limb Fitting Service last week was to check I was physically and mentally suitable for a prothesis, and to measure me up for one and take a cast of the stump to allow manufacture of a bespoke socket. I go for a fitting next week and all being well should bring it back with me! 👨‍🦽 to 🏃‍♂️

Good news indeed. Let us all know the outcome of next weeks appointment. I expect so many health services are being disrupted due to Covid as NHS must be so stretched. Good luck.

Yes CovID has really disrupted things. Normally you would not take the prothesis back with you after the first fitting but have a number of sessions with their physios and any other team members as appropriate. I am sure though that the excellent physio team are more than up to it!

21,000 kind and generous souls! Wonderful encouragement - thanks to each and every one.

Michael, watching your recovery with interest as my brother has Type 1 and struggling now with feet issues. Hope you are feeling ok.

I hope your brother is getting the podiatry he needs. Since the start of CovID it has been hard to come by. I had my first treatment in many months on Thursday.

Yes he has Michael. The hosp in central London where most vascular care takes place has been great - even local services were extraordinary during lockdown and podiatry team transferred to domicillary visits, albeit less frequently.

Well a nurse came and turned on the room light. 💡 It came at a cost though - time for my insulin! 💉But she did do it for me as it's good to rotate the sites. 😊

You need a broom handle or something to reach the main light switch... are you allowed Amazon deliveries?

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply to Alison_L

Yes, but a 12' broom handle might be prove awkward to handle! 😁

Excellent all day! Changed the dressing, made my bed, did evening insulin injection, etc. Apparently I cannot take her home as there is a staff shortage! 🙁

Great group. Joined a couple of years after LAD stemi resulting in 3 stents. Learned so much about heart conditions and your stories are so inspirational.

Hello Michael.

When I joined just over 2 years ago I did so because my husband was due to have a quadruple bypass as his arteries were 'unstentable' (is that even a word!!). I just remember how helpful you were in the weeks before, during and after the operation as you'd been through it roughly the same time. Your replies (when I showed my husband) were not only helpful but deeply reassuring.

Other lovely members of this forum pitched in with brilliant responses to my many, many questions.

I'd just like to thanks everyone on this forum and wish you, Michael, all the very best.

I quite like 080311's (Pauline) take on this - 21K means 21K Hearties or their loving supporters (Hiya, Lezzers, I'm looking at you:) ) going through some very disturbing life-changing times but it also means 21K good folks sharing their experiences we can all learn from.

I came aboard over a year ago and couldn't have made it (from acutely unwell to feeling better than I have in decades) without this merry band of Hearties - Bless you, every one!
