He takes medication for seizures now, he has had
ammonia
levels of well in the 300’s 3 different times. (Normal is 1-13) very low platelet counts, loss of hair, yellow eyes and skin, horrible itching and pain in his extremities. Swelling if he doesn’t stay on meds to reduce that.

Living with cirrhosis for over 5 years.
(High
ammonia
in the brain). I was comatose for a few days and slowly regained consciousness. After intensive treatment most of those issues have been kept in check. Although I will occasionally become disoriented or unresponsive.

Global developmental delay/ 8 month old baby/ high vitamin b12
All His blood results came normal except vitamin b12 which is extremely high at 1360 and
ammonia
at borderline of 60. Doctors have been telling that high vitamin b12 is not a cause of concern. We got TSM done and organic Uric acid tests which came out normal.

2 Year Update PBC
The blood work showed that my
ammonia
levels were elevated, so they decided to keep me overnight. When the liver stops working, it can't filter
ammonia
out of the blood. My blood became toxic and it affected my brain. I completely lost touch with reality. It was terrifying.

Ammonia smell
Hi all, recently I have been experiencing a strong smell of
ammonia
but no one else seems to smell it. It happens at different times of the day and in various locations inside and outside my home. Has anyone else had this problem?

Nurses' regular use of disinfectants is associated with developing COPD, a potentially fatal lung disease
Given that wearing a mask will probably do very little to remove the chlorine and
ammonia
released from bleaches and disinfectants, I recommend that we ensure that there is plenty of fresh air when we are cleaning. Neil Photo: So strange to see white swans!

Its kind of being a little bit pregnant....
In 2009 I returned from Iraq I was crazy itchy. Spent months going back and forth to the doctor, being told to take benadryl etc. etc. then I went to my GI doctor for my 6 month follow up (had elevated alk phos since 2002) and he noticed me scratching. He asked me if I had rashes and I said no, other

More blood tests and sudden death of friend...
She did a test to see how much
ammonia
is in my blood, having too much can cause cognitive issues. Has anyone had cognitive issues with PBC? She also is doing a CBC and a "new" test called "fibrosure". Can be used in diagnosis, I had a liver biopsy for my diagnosis though.

Dialysis is my other way of life. I still try to travel when I can
I had my transplant 23 years and then I got an
ammonia
so back on dialysis. I go to west covina dialysis Monday Wednesday and Friday for four hours each time. Most of the time I watch TV or fall sleep but I can't really work much because TT requires a lot of energy.

Heptologist comment on brain fog
He placed me on Xifaxan to help break down the
ammonia
& other toxin. Due to the expense of this medication my insurance does not want to pay for it. Now I am being placed on something called lactulose so I will have multiple bowel movements daily.

I was told to watch my protein intake, too much and the liver can't excrete the
ammonia
byproduct of the protein breakdown and not enough and the liver can't start to repair the damage as it needs protein to do so...🙄 How do we know what is enough what is too much?

Heptologist visit
Started a strong antibiotic called Xifaxan for the brain fog which I found out is caused by the
ammonia
in my blood which affects the brain. I can't concentrate, I fumble over words, & sometime completely forget the conversation in the middle of it. Also started Lyrica for my joint & muscle pain.

Yesterday we were told his
ammonia
levels are double what they should be which is affecting his brain. He is declining very quickly. He has been a heavy drinker for over 20 years but an alcoholic for the last 2 years.

In a lot of pain and feel sick. Anxiety Or something else?
Does that explain the
ammonia
smell? The constant back and arm pain? I feel like I am being dismissed and while I know I have been stressed I am not imagining these pains.
