Ammonia smell in my nose.
Hi,I have recently been getting a very strong smell of
ammonia
in my nose. It's putting me off food, my face seems puffy and skin very dry and my weight has increased. I take 150mg of levothyroxine for hypothyroidism and take stelara for my Crohn's.

Tinnitus
Had tinnitus and bad headache when waking for about a year which recedes slowly when erect,I have cirrhosis with usual side crap.It seems
ammonia
from cirrhosis has capability to cross the blood/csf barrier in the brain which can lead to a plethora of symptoms which I think will remain largely unfathomable

Cirrhosis with vomiting and diarrhea
He refuses to quit drinking, also refuses to take the medication that will bring down
ammonia
levels in his brain, Ironically because it makes him sick. So..last 7 days he has probably eaten what I eat in one meal. Still drinking “all of it”, but has vomiting and diarrhea.

NON CIRRHOTIC LIVER DISEASE
Still have to have my blood
ammonia
levels tested and a liver biopsy. Regardless of what biopsy reveals, isn’t it fair to say regardless of the cause the effect is the same ? By that I mean a form of portal hypertension is the end result.

Advice please on latest results.
There is a smell which I cannot identify as fishy, sweet or like
ammonia
, but not all the time. The nearest is probably fishy.

Thursday Chuckle
The man wakes up in total darkness, the stench of
ammonia
filling the air and distant screams the only noise. As he adjusts, he can see the only light is from belches of flame far away, illuminating the ragged remains of people being tortured or burning in a sulphurous ocean.

Cirrhosis
He is scheduled for paracentesis next week, has been prescribed a second diuretic to help with the ascites and a medication to remove
ammonia
from the blood to help with HE. He has no varices. He’s had several blood tests from Aug -Oct and each time his liver functions are improving.

Looking for a good diet for weight loss for cirrhosis possibly using my vitamix using fresh fruits and vegetables and soups
He recently had to go on a medication to help control
ammonia
levels. So they took him off his diuretics. This has caused a significant weight gain for him in a short period of time. His weight is up to 317 right now and we are very concerned.

Hepatic Encephalopathy - Alzheimer’s Type II Astrocytes
Here I believe that damage to the Astrocytes and Microglia cells caused by
ammonia
can bring about the build-up of Tau within the brain as this video illustrates: https://youtu.be/0GXv3mHs9AU The main article that the video is taken from can be found here: https://www.nia.nih.gov/health/what-happens-brain-alzheimers-disease

B12/Folate
I’ve also read about B12 supplements increasing
ammonia
. I currently don’t have a doctor. I was seeing a naturopath, but I feel he harmed and neglected me, so I stopped seeing him.

Brain Fog, possible HE, Cirrhosis lethargy
, easy walk up the stairs…I’ve still got extremely bad brain fog, which to be fair I can’t drive so not too harmful for others, and just 2 days ago after obsessively poring over sobriety pages and podcasts came upon the symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy and
ammonia
which is good for my hypochondria

GFR bounces up and down creating new lows.
When it was at 15 I began smelling
ammonia
and my heart was begining to beat differently, I was exhausted and my hearing was like "airplane ears" as well as my vision was way worse. Went to ER and they said my potassium was at 6 and my Creatine was at 4.9 Filled me up with IV and sent me.on my way.

Bad breath and taste
About 2 weeks ago I started getting the
ammonia
breath I've heard about and my mouth always has a bad taste...almost rotten taste like garbage. My tongue even burns a bit. My dentist says my teeth are fine. My neph says I shouldn't have this until stage 5, but I have it and I'm so self conscious.
