Shielding before and after lung surgery
I am waiting to have lung surgery a lobectomy. Hoping to get a surgery date in next 2 weeks, as already cancelled once. I spoke to my doctor about shielding and she said I couldn’t get a shielding letter as this is only for people currently getting cancer treatment such as chemotherapy (I have a carcinoid

Eylea injections and opticians
I have macular oedema and I am having Eyelea injections. I feel my eyesight would be improved if I went to the opticians for some new glasses. Has anyone done this as I believe although it has not been suggested it would help me. I have been having injections for over a year and my opticians appointment

Brittle eyelashes
So this is a strange question, just had my third Lucentis injection and find for days after that my eyelashes on the injected eye always go very stiff and feel brittle. Does anyone else find this? Thanks

Part of the black spot in the morning club
hi. maybe a few months after having had 40 laser zaps in left eye and 70 in right eye a year after silicone lenses which were implanted during cataract surgery the year previously grew epithelial cells I began to see a big jagged edged dense black spot when I woke up. Only lasted ten seconds.

Thoughts on Cataract surgery?
Hey everyone! I don’t know if I can post this here but we have to decide soon. We were waiting for the pandemic wave to diminish so that we could carry-on with other treatment procedures. So my mother’s cataract is being removed but we haven’t decided on the procedure we have to adopt. Traditional methods

Anxiety re alcohol related fears
Hi Hope you don't mind me asking the question but I just wondered if anyone else had driven themselves mad by googling symptoms and then convincing themselves they had every one of them. I have one spider nevi (which has to be magnified to see) but I now think I have cirrhosis. I sometimes feel like

Reducing frequency of Actemra - how to decide this ?
Hello , I have been diagnosed with GCA in March 2019. I was put on 60 mg prednisone and then tapering and now on 4 mg by DSNS method. Since April 2019 ,I was also put parallelly on Actemra 162 mg every 15 days. I have had two small flares on the prednisone taper and otherwise uneventful taper so far

Popular hypertension drugs don't increase risk of COVID-19 severity, fatality.
A new Northwestern Medicine study in mice found a widely used class of drugs to treat patients with hypertension, cardiovascular disease and diabetic kidney disease — many of whom are elderly — does not increase the risk of developing a severe and potentially fatal COVID-19 infection, as previously feared

ALT and GGT - alcohol related
Hi I’m new to the site. I’m 45, female and yes a heavy drinker so I’ve done this to myself. My most recent blood tests showed ALT was 59 (upper limit 34) and GGT 49. How bad is this? I’ve stopped alcohol now. Apart from the alcohol I eat really well and exercise daily, BMI of 21. I know no-one can give

Gynaecomastia (man boobs)
Do any of you men have this condition? I've read that liver disease can cause this (imbalance of testosterone and oestrogen) but it can also be a side effect of Spironolactone diuretic medication. I have cirrhosis and also take Spironolactone for pitting oedema in my lower legs and feet (the medication

What assistance can my Mum get?
My fiercely independent 85-year-old Mum has deteriorating eyesight due to Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration. Until recently she was a very active walker, knitter/crafter, involved in church etc. She's had regular injections in both eyes for > 18 months now but her vision continues to deteriorate.
