Part of the black spot in the morning club

hi. maybe a few months after having had 40 laser zaps in left eye and 70 in right eye a year after silicone lenses which were implanted during cataract surgery the year previously grew epithelial cells

I began to see a big jagged edged dense black spot when I woke up. Only lasted ten seconds. Now it goes on for awhile unless i get right out in sunlight. Ophthalmologist says its dry macular degeneration from drusen in retinas which have "moved" in the past year. Seeing a retina specialist next month. What say you anybody? Im almost 82. This morning it was much smaller.

Yes - you write "I began to see a big jagged edged dense black spot when I woke up. Only lasted ten seconds." I am the same, and inquired, but got no answer. It's nearly two years since injections stopped, in both eyes. I'm 90, and have an eye test at Boots in a fortnight, and will try to get an answer then. - John M

For the past two or three mornings the black spot has diminished to a much smaller spot . The second morning it was a very small crescent shaped spot. This morning it was hardly visible.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to work this site. Sorry. For the past three mornings the black spot has diminished to a much smaller spot; the second morning it was a small crescent. This morning I don't think I saw it at all. I did travel from the desert here in Palm Springs where it is really dry to Alta Dena, closer to the Pacific Coast and slightly higher altitude -less than a hundred miles from here and stayed with my younger daughter's family for around 10 days. The day after arriving there I saw my eye Doctor in Los Angeles who said it was dry macular degeneration. It seemed to be a bigger spot after I had my eyes examined there. Back in the desert ten days later at first the large spot lasted much longer than usual, maybe five minutes or more until I got out into full sun, for around a week but now it has diminished first to a small oval spot, then to a smaller crescent, now all I remember when I opened my eyes this morning is the sun glaring through the blinds with a reddish flash and a small black spot when I tried to read the thermostat which disappeared immediately. Have your spots changed at all and do they change when you travel?
