Basel, 27 May 2020 - Roche (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY) today announced positive topline results from the phase III Archway study, evaluating Port Delivery System with ranibizumab (PDS) in people living with neovascular or “wet” age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). PDS is a permanent refillable eye implant, approximately the size of a grain of rice, which continuously delivers a customised formulation of ranibizumab over a period of months. The Archway trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating that patients with PDS who received refills every six months achieved visual acuity outcomes equivalent to those receiving monthly ranibizumab 0.5 mg injections. In Archway, PDS was generally well-tolerated with a favorable benefit-risk profile.

Hi rosy. I didn't but others might. Also, Becky or one of the other Administrators will probably know something so maybe we can ask tomorrow. It probably isn't available yet - you know what these things always say, that's it's not available in the UK yet. Hopefully, Becky will have some news tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. x

Good Morning RosyG,

This port delivery system is in phase 3 trials so it isn't available as a treatment anywhere yet, but results are looking promising. Unfortunately we cannot say when this will become available, but we are keeping an eye on it. The trial is estimated to complete in April 2021.

If someone is suitable for this, then they will receive this small implant in the eye with a small operation. This implant which will gradually release Lucentis over a period of 6 months. At 6 months, the implant will be topped up and this will continue.

At the moment, as it is the company that produces Lucentis is making the PDS, it will only be used with Lucentis medication. If they allow or sell their PDS to other companies, such as Novartis, other anti VEGF drugs may be used with it too.

All the best,

Becky :)
