Vitamin D3 Levels?
I had a meeting with, what I call, a metabolic Oncologist (don't think that is an actual term) last night. Several weeks I a had, what they call, a metabolic blood test. This Oncologist is not my primary Oncologist. I have been taking 5000iu of Vitamin D3 for about 5-6 weeks prior to my blood draw

When does supplementation become toxic or counter-productive?
My Dear Fellow Adventurers, Firstly, thank you for the wealth of information and inspiration - having this commuity makes so much difference! I have a question today, that I have already asked both my doctor and pharmacist (neither were able to help): as I add a new supplement every few months

Insulin Resistance, Parkinson's Disease, Consequences And What To Do About It
The topic of insulin resistance (IR) in PwP is not often discussed. Has your MDS or neurologist ever tested you for IR? It is estimated that two thirds of people with PD who are not diabetic, have IR and very likely are not even aware they have IR as discussed here : https://www.parkinson.org/blog/

Closer to checkmate to Parkinson's (1): what Dr. Phillipson says.
This year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of a writing by Dr. Phillipson and an interview about its content. Oliver T. Phillipson is a Harvard scientist. A sage who accumulates decades of experience in the study of aging, mitochondria and Parkinson's disease. And he has a dream that

Vitamin D3
I have been taking 5,000 units of Vitamin D3 for a couple of years. A friend said he heard of a study with MS patients taking 10,000 units and it helped their symptoms and disabilities. Does anyone have experience or comments?

Test results, a penny for your thoughts?
Hello everyone, just had my latest blood tests done. Just curious what you would say about them, if you have the time? A few months ago I went up by 12.5mcg in an attempt to bring my TSH down to around 1 where I generally feel better. My weight is a lot better these days, my heart rate has finally calmed

A (failed?) attempt to stop thyroid medicines.
Hi, everyone. Sorry for the long post... I've been on thyroid hormone replacement since almost 4 years. I started euthyrox on the advice of my gp when my TSH was 2.89 (0.27-4.20). My antibodies were also slightly elevated (TPO: 112 [0-34]) and they remain on this range until today. Back then I was

timing of supplements
I am confused about whether it is beneficial to take supplements at certain times of the day or with/without certain pairings. Perhaps it just doesn’t matter, which would be much more convenient. This is what I am currently doing,, but I’d appreciated any suggestions, especially if you think I am overthinking

Help with VIT D dosage for Dad
Hi all My Dad’s VIT D results have come back adequate at 56.6 nmol/L range (50.1 - 220nmol/L) My Dad has now been given Adcal D-3 to take which has 400 I.U. or 10 micrograms colecalciferol (vitamin D3) in it. He takes steroids and will be on them for a very long time which is way he has Ad-Cal. There

Vitamin D results are in - I'm worried
Dear Community I recently had some bloods done but the Vit D results have only just been updated onto my NHS App. I thought perhaps the lab had not undertaken the analysis. I am worried because one of these is right at the bottom of the range. Please may ask your advice in helping me to understand

ADCal alternatives?
Hello everyone. Am prone to UTIs and don't like the ADCal tabs as they are grainy/gritty. I take a Soldar Vit D, but what dose is advisable, and what brand, type and dose of calcium does anyone advise please. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

osteopenia, Hashimotos and sjogrens
hi, my rheumatologist has prescribed Adcal and Alendronic acid. Due to oesphagitis because of Sjögren’s I don’t want to take Alendronic acid. Through research and the help of thyroid UK I now take vitamin D3 MK2 and magnesium. Pains in my chest which used to feel like a heart attack have cleared up since

Calcium supplements - are they essential for PMR
I saw my GP a couple of days ago and whilst there he reviewed my Calcium/Vitamin D3 supplements. I currently take an EvercalD3 tablet twice daily, a super strength vitamin D3 +K2 tablet containing 4000 iu vitamin D3 plus a multivitamin tablet. This gives me calcium intake of 3000 mg daily and 5000

Could Vitamin D3 affect hemoglobin levels?
My husband ( 84 years old) has had CLL for at least 20 years. Two years ago they started him on Imbruvica 420 mg daily but stopped it after 14 months because his neutrophil count was so low. Since June of 2022 he has been getting Eprex injections (40,000 units ) weekly and taking Aclovir 400 mg twice
