Hi there people...

Here I am... I have to check in, even if no one reads this...

Yesterday was a hugely busy day... sorting out Mr OF and pills.. checking stuff and then heading out for a care day with small running in training!

These days, with her, have always counted as stamina and strengthen days and yesterday was no exception. Whether I feel less than par, the day has to be the best... playing, learning, walking, running, reading , writing, drawing and loads of in between... ! Phew. I had one tiny blip moment.... but, my breathing technique, done subtly whilst small person was laying the table for lunch, got me through... alternate nostril and the 3,2,1 ! Dada was around too which always helps!

Home again... Mr OF had survived the day well.. made his lunch and washed up too!

I started to write this after a light supper, but the day had got the better of me and my bed called!

But...here I am now.

I do want to start to move a tad more... but very gently. I still do have a fear of too much and , too soon and the anxiety kicking in. So, I am putting together ideas which I think will benefit but not stress me.

So... what and when and where?

Well, from the messages I am getting here, and in other posts and replies to folk's post, there are a few folk feeling the same, for one reason or another. Planning ahead, post injury or recovery, suffering a tad from life generally and its ups, downs and general mayhem and worries. Looking for things to help them move on!

There is much to ponder on !

For me...my issue now is primarily the anxiety... but add to that the steady loss of the strength I get from my runs, and I want to get it right.

When you feel stressed, or anxious, , moving and exercising is sometimes the last thing you want to do.

But as we know and we are always commenting on...the link between mental health and physical health is strong and exercise may be just the thing to help with some of what ails us!

These are some things that I gleaned... whilst scouting round for what I felt I would like to think about.

Yoga, ( sorry ), is right up there in the list!

Cardio work... ( Basically any kind of exercise that improves the workings of our heart and lungs delivering the oxygen to our muscles during a workout is good... and can also reduce anxiety!

So many exercise options too! Running ( sigh), swimming, cycling and of course, walking.

Nature Walks.... Oh yes! Here we go...my kind of exercise. Nature calms the mind, eases the soul... the steady pace of a walk, forest bathing and research has found that the benefits of a walk like this can really reduce anxiety.

Okay... I am good on the Yoga... yesterday's post...

Walks... they will be ongoing, and I am starting a Walk and Talk session on Thursday on a local reserve!

Cardio... uh oh... well yes. I have a cunning plan!

One of my favourite places to find routines, which are low impact, short and sweet, but very effective...is the Bodyfit with Amy sessions. There is, quite literally, something there for all. You just type in what you want... and scroll around.

For example, because I cannot do crunches on the floor... I searched for a standing exercise... and got the one I use regularly.

youtube.com/watch?v=bqcH9h1...

I am only going to put this one link on... but if you visit her on You Tube... there is so much to choose from.

I use the five and ten minute sessions normally in a regular routine, for legs, arms and abs. There are seated exercises, exercises to do at work and relaxation exercises too, exercises for pregnant ladies, post natal too and exercises following illness or injury!!

She works for me; there are very high impact sessions too, but the gentler stuff is what I find most helpful when I am running regularly.

We all have to try, if we want to help keep our body and mind fit, to find what suits us and our lifestyle best !

So... today... I began with the Five Tibetan rites... seated version... ( twisted limbs yoga) and then an arm workout with my lightest weights, using a Bodyfit by Amy video...

Tibetan rites link including seated version!

healthunlocked.com/strength...

Then later... a TLC Yoga session with YWA....

Breathing exercise throughout the day... and finishing with...

a relaxing body-scan at bedtime!

Okay...

That should keep me moving.

By nine I had unpacked a shopping order...then I was off to sort med's with the chemist, for Dr OF and pick up a form for him from the GP!

Done and dusted...

Have a safe, relaxed, but maybe, slightly more active day everyone

I missed you yesterday 🥰Right now I am forest bathing - literally, it's very wet. Outside this dripping canopy my world is falling apart somewhat, but in here it is all I need it to be. One muddy step at a time (I had to pause to type this or I'd likely have ended up face down in the mud). We can't control it all, but we can certainly influence how we feel, we can keep moving steadily forward. Keep going Floss 😘

Oh my... that sounds just so beautiful...I am so looking forward to my forest experience and walk on Thursday.

The rain must make it all seem very special.... the trees and the canopy , sights, sounds and sensations... Oh goodness. I wish I was with you x

You are so right,,, we cannot control it all, but we truly can influence how we feel and react...hard though it is at times.

Fear and uncertainty may be part of us...but it is not us and it will not define us. Stay safe my friend... on we go xxx

Regular exercise in the last two weeks has helped me get stronger, more supple and has definitely eased me at least onto the beginning of the upslope of the dumps!🤣

I can't do yoga at all at the moment, but I may find a way back in to non-bendy yoga. Pilates this morning was wonderful though.

Thanks for the Amy link - useful to add to the armory!

Well done you.... non bendy yoga is possible!!! Anything is possible once we find it! I do love Amy.... she has helped me through some tough post injury times... !!!

Love the 🐌😊 Thanks for the link, she sounds really good - I will take a look. Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed with all the exercise choices on YouTube…look at lots then end up not doing any 😂. You certainly have busy days! Lovely to spend time with ‘little runner’, I find being in the nursery keeps me active - lots of bending, sitting on the floor, running around and picking up heavy weights 😂. Still no runs for me - 3 and a half weeks now, this week I have come down with a throat infection! 😡

Oh no!!! Just what you don't need !

Life is busy sometimes and better for it... no time to think or rather overthink! When do you head up North for a break ? Maybe that will do you good !

You have been keeping busy and active Floss! Those days with Little Runner are precious, but also very tiring, no rest!

I watched the Bodyfit with Amy video ( I know that doesn't count☺) but I will try and have a go tomorrow morning🤞

No wonder you are so fit, I know you have been doing her workouts regularly.

Nature walks...yes I enjoy those, not sure about the Tibetan rites though.

I will stick with YWA.

Enjoying your daily updates and ideas.

Hello.. well I am wondering how you got on with the video...!

I just find Amy very pleasant and easy to follow.... I am going to do a relaxing short one with her this morning... and maybe a few extra stretches too!

The seated Tibetan rites are easy to do and quite beneficial... they do start the day well, but I do know how the Yoga has impacted your life and how much benefit you have got from it, mentally and physically.

Hope you have a good day today,,,, small one??? Mr OF and I are heading out for a short walk and a picnic... ! Plus a little visit to look at some lovely architecture in a little church near our picnic spot!

Thanks you xxx

I did it 🤸‍♀️ The 10 minutes went much more quickly while actually working out.😅

Next time I will use a dumbell. Followed it with a yoga practice, so all done nice and early today.

The garden needs some attention, but I feel Mr Bbr will want to go walking instead...

I hope you enjoy your picnic and walk, hopefully in the sunshine.

Thank you for you lovely post. I’m playing catch up and have missed a lot but hope that you are ok.

I love the list of suggestions for readers, there’s some great ideas to motivate us all.

There are some great ideas, and some of our replies do give us more ideas too.

I am okay, ( with the odd issue related to these posts), thank you, now that Mr OF is two weeks into recovery from his very unexpected heart attack! We are going to venture out a little further today for a short walk, and I am going to be putting today's post up on here later!

How are you doing ?

Oldlady64 in reply to Oldfloss

Oh I missed that news, sorry to hear that but hope the recovery is going well. Sending very best wishes to you both.

I’m doing well thanks. Got on my running kit and off to meet two buddies from the park run for a run around the course, ready for Saturday!

I guess you need to do a bit more planning of your days!

Hopefully you still get enough time to look after yourself and Mr OF 🤞🤞

I'm here. Still trying to do the best I can whilst feeling congested, fatigued and generally fed up. I'm signed off until Sunday and considering asking the GP if I can take a further week off as I still just feel completely wiped out.

To add insult to injury we just got another bit of bad news to contend with. Al went for an ECG earlier today as he's been feeling very tired of late with some chest pain and I nagged him into seeing the GP! He's being told by the technician that he may need one or two stents as his ECG is now quite significantly abnormal. He had a minor MI a few years ago, but didn't need surgery then, however it seems things are progressing.

He's off for bloods tomorrow, and will make an appointment to speak to the GP again early next week when we'll have more of an idea of the extent of what needs doing.

I am increasingly considering the idea of retiring early, as I only have two years left to go and until I get my state pension anyway, to be able to support him more. Today's news has just given me more food for thought........

Hello ! Oh goodness... what next. I really think maybe another week off is necessary. We do sometimes drag ourselves in to work before time and it isn't the bet idea.

Yopur husband too! Oh dear. I do hope that gets sorted mighty quickly as well. I would say, if you can afford it.. go for retirement. The pay cheque isn't the same but the benefits are huge...

Take care and keep us posted please x
