Hi new to this site. I was a heavy smoker for 20 years and decided 6 nights ago to smoke my last cig. I lasted cold turkey for almost 15 hours than gave in to my e cig better choice than a real cig. I want to use the ecig only as an aid and be completly nicotine free sooner than later. My biggest problem is i suffer from anxiety and at certain times of the day i feel like i have brain fog and sick and not sure if this feeling is normal because im still getting nicotine from the vape? Which than creates my anxiety to get worse thinking somwthing is wrong.Has anyone else felt like this.

This feeling is quite normal and just to tell you that the anxiety you feel is the anxiety from the evil nicotin receptors inside your brain. Its your addiction speaking, don't let it rule. If you smoke a cigarette now it won't reduce your actual stress, rather it will feed the stress your nicotine is creating. Take an hour at a time. Drink water and have veggies and fruits. It is gonna get better since you took this amazing decision to quit. Congratulations.

Hi quitjune and welcome to quit support.

Well done on your decision to quit smoking :) Increased anxiety and brain fog are both very common symptoms of recovery.

Do have a look around the site and especially the pinned posts as there is a wealth of information.

If its any help, I have suffered with self managed anxiety all my life and this did increase when i first started my own quit journey 3 years ago. However, i now have a calmness that i never had as a smoker :) I quit cold turkey but we have many members who have quit using vapes that i am sure will answer any questions :) :)

Does this make your quit date June 22nd?

I gave up nine weeks ago and had terrible brain fog for the first month, even though I was vaping. It really unnerved me: I had to write lists of everything I had to do or they clean went from my mind. Now, though, a few weeks on and the fog is clearing so stick with it and you will start to feel sharper. X

20 years heavy smoker and now nicotine free? Wow, I think your example could inspire other smokers. Vaping is really able to help quite smoking, I personally ordered a beginner’s kit from ############in hope to give up smoking. According to some vaping forums, e-cigs must help me, they’re way more effective than nicotine patches and gums.
