So, new here. Today is day 4, yesterday was he## today seems a bit better. I am using the patch, started on step 2 even though I was smoking a pack plus a day, looking to take the edge off. I will was treated for pneumonia last week and decided part way in enough is enough. I will be 49 on Sunday and this scared me enough to just say no. Still the breathing freaks me out, I'm sure some is my lungs healing but also some affects yet from the pneumonia. I also find the anxiety is crazy it makes me clench my jaw and that makes my neck and shoulders ache...I'm determined though and tell myself this to shall pass and in a few months, hopefully sooner, you will feel so much better
Day 4: So, new here. Today is day 4, yesterday... - Quit Support
Day 4
Hi Kar and welcome to quit supportπ
Well done on your desision to quit and 4 days is great so well doneππΌ
You're recovery from pneumonia is going to be much better now you've stopped smoking. It's early days yet so yes lots of healing going on. Anxiety is a very common side effect from quitting and if you try some of the breathing techniques it will help you to relax a little. I think we often wonder how on earth we'll cope without smoking but the patch is very good and will certainly help you. Each day you'll get a little stronger and it will get a little easier.
Have a read of the pinned posts as lots of good reading there to help. We say NOPE not one puff everπ Good luck and if ya need anything just shoutπ
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday tomorrow and you've given yourself the best gift ever by quittingππππππ
Welcome Kar29 and congratulations on your quit...! You're similar to me in terms of your quit. I too started on step 2 and while the first week was hard it has got better since. I had a tooth extraction a few weeks ago and ended up with dry socket yet I was still smoking and I thought what on earth are you doing woman... and that was it... I decided to stop.
Try and keep your reasons at the front of your mind and read the posts on here, they for sure have helped me especially during cravings Keep going ππ x

Hi kar and welcome to quit support well done you've got to day 4 so stay strong and fight it cause it will get better and you are not far away from 1 wk so hang in there your doing great. Pneumonia no not pleasant I had this in December feels like your having to breath through a straw with the very little oxygen you can manage to get but this does also get better π my biggest mistake was smoking again after that episode when I stopped cold turkey for 10 days. Wish I'd known about this site then and it is another reason why I am 100% quitting this time. Stay close and keep us posted on your quit journey π

In regards to anxiety - yes this is common..and more importantly..it does pass..see it purely as your body cleansing ππ
All the very best of luck ππππ
Hi Kar and welcome to day 5 π
What a great quit you got going onπ I too gave up with patches and started on 2nd step. Always carry a spare with you and use gum or mints etc as a back up if you need it. I used to take mine off 30 mins before bed to reduce the weird dreams....π©
If your not doing it already then put your cig money in a jar. When you feel a bit better then use it to treat yourself to something... You'll be surprised at how much you save and how you ever afforded to smoke!!
I wish you a full and speedy recovery and just carry on doing what your doing.... Being smoke free is the best thing EVER
πππππππππππππ
Thanks.
Day 5 started with feeling like I'm choking on phlegm...ugh!!!! Trying some things to clear the mucus, they helped yesterday so should today. Then we are going to brunch and perhaps some flower shopping. I haven't done any gardening this spring, was to sick the last few weeks. If my stamina holds I may do some planting today. Cravings were bad last night but I rose above them and am looking forward to today smoke free.
Hi Kar, welcome to quit support. I am also new here. So far I have found so much support here. Congrats on 4 daysπ. Keep it up, you can do it.
