Hi Leah, a big warm welcome to this lovely quit site pal :)

Yep, before I came to this site, I had a problem quitting :o erm, I'm sorry, but have to go to bed now, cos am up early in the morning for work, but ave just posted a comment to another newbie, I will copy it and post it to you to have a read eh :)

but please try to plan your quit, sit yourself down, get a pen and paper, and think, what part of the day, do you really want a ciggie ? where do you need a ciggie ? what are you doing when you want a ciggie ? and write these down :) Then go back to them, and think, how you can change these trigger points :) Like are you going to use any NRT, Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help you quit ? Change your habits ! Change the times you do things ! and so on, all these little things add up to help you :)

I hope I've made sense and good luck on your trek :)

I hope this may help you :) Pete :)

Hey Leah12,

Welcome to Quit Support :-)

Choosing to stop smoking is one of the best decisions that a smoker can make for the benefit of their health.

I have a few questions that I need to ask to gain so that we can get a bigger picture of your quitting smoking story, this will then enable us to help and support you further;

1. How many each day do you smoke?

2. Will you be using nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)?

3. What are your reasons for quitting?

4. Do you have a particular time to quit smoking by - for example, within 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month?

Having the answers to these questions will help me to understand what advice is best to offer you.

The best advice that I would offer is to really think about any past quit attempts, think about how you are going to do it this time and also plan, plan, plan towards a quit date, set your quit date and then get excited about it :-)

The above is what I would usually ask any new member and your answers will help form a good starting block to help keep you on the path that you have already started :-)

Staying positive throughout your journey is also a big pointer towards being successful, this isn't always an easy thing to do. However, if you just bob on here, somebody is sure to lift your spirit :-)
