Hiya Noel and a big warm welcome to quit support😊

It's only natural to feel scared but the good thing about this forum is that everyone has been where you are now, wondering when and how to quit😩 sometimes it takes a few trial runs, like you've had already but you haven't given up giving up and that's the most important thing. You need a good plan to get ready to quit and stay quit. Have you decided to use nicotine replacement or are you going cold turkey. Our members have the experience of every known NRT and cold turkey, so which ever you decide, there's plenty of help here for you. Our Admin are very good at working out a plan to suit you. So perhaps you could let us know what you have tried already and we can take it from there. Good luck😊x

That's great coz they are both very good👍 our motto is NOPE not one puff ever and one day at a time is a great way forward. Any problems just shout as there's always someone around to help😊x

Hey, good luck. I also had to try and quit many times. Now it's been a year and a half since I had half a cigarette. I went a few years without smoking before that. For me, I use nicotine lozenges. Have been full on addicted to them, but not killing myself anymore. I have reduced the lozenges quite a bit.

Another tip is to take it a day at a time.

Hiya Nellie and welcome to quit support 😊

Congratulations on 18 months quit, terrific achievement so well done👍🏼

If the lozenges keep you from smoking, that's brilliant and thankyou so much for giving your good advice😊x

HI Pete, and thanks very much for the welcome. My quit date is Christmas day, of 2013 - that's when I had half a smoke! Yeh, I'm still addicted, but it's a lot cheaper and a lot healthier. I'm a work in progress...

Aup Nellie :) and thank you sooo much for giving me your quit date :) I will add you to our data base and the Wall of Winners :)

Nellie, you are doing just BRILL gal :) you are :) :)

I see your using the lozenges to help you, these are flippin excellent gal and yes, you can sort of get addicted to them :o ermmm, what I would do issssss, try to cut them in half and when you need one, just have half :) then, when you get used to that, maybe cut them into quarters :)

No matter what Nellie, as you say, their a lot cheaper and healthier for you gal :) :) cos I tell you, you just wouldnt believe what other toxins-poisons are in cigs :o !!!!!!!!!!

You take care now Nellie and hope to speak soon :)

Thanks for you encouragement, Monky> I do feel down on myself for being addicted to the lozenges, but I was a chain smoker. I used to smoke a 50g pouch of tobacco in one day, for the last 8 years of my addiction to cigarettes. It absolutely ruled me, and ruled what sort of job I could get, and how far I travelled on the train, and so forth. I was still loving the cigarettes, at the age of 45, when I figured I wasn't going to make 50. So that's when I started trying to quit, and discovered the lozenges. I was compulsive on the lozenges for a long time, now I've got them reduced for about 4 months. And, like you say, I can reduce them some more in the future - especially as I get better in therapy.

Anyways, just felt like a chat because it's great to get some support. Cheers, nellie

Hi ya Jude :) and thank you very much for letting me know your quit date :) :)

Yes Jude, I'm sorry, but a lot of us get chest complaints in the early stages of our quits :( Like you say gal, 45 Years of smoking :o BUT, BUT, saying that, just please give it time :) Maybe try to help your body recuperate some what with drinking plenty of water and try to do a bit of exercise, even walking, housework, like hovering, get that body of you'rs mooooooving :) :)

Jude your doing ever soo well :) :) Please, Please stay focused on your quit :) that flippin mr nic has done this to you, soooo, you flippin FIGHT it gal :) I will be honest with you Jude, it could take up to a Year before you feel the benefits of quitting, it just depends on your body and how fast it heals :( BUT, you WILL reap the benefits :) I know you will :) :)

Please, please stay with us Jude and we will try to help you as much as we can :) :)

Best of luck. I quit 'Cold Turkey' 94 days ago. Every day is a challenge. Not gonna smoke today!! NOPE!!

I tried every NRT and read A Carrs book (it was dull) nothing really aided me. I realised that most of the time the act of smoking and getting cigarettes was unconscious, kind like being in a day dream.

It is just a habit like biting your nail or swearing, the villain in the process is Nic o` teen. I went cold turkey in the end and road the roller-coaster of anger, depression and elation when I was through it.

Good luck, if I can you can.

Hi ya Noel1979, a big warm welcome to our quit support community :) and this could be a life saving decision that you are making, sooo, lets make it stick eh :) :)

Noel, a quit plan really helped me :) What you have to do is to sit yourself down, write all the WHY's you want to quit on a piece of paper :) maybe make some copies and stick them around the house where you get the erge to smoke :o

Also, think of the times when you want a cig the most :o and try to think of what you can do to deter this :)

If you have a look to the right of your post, you will see TOPICS, scroll down to quit smoking plan and have a read through that :)

Both the e-cig and the quick mist are very good :) and if you need any help, just give us a shout and we will help you with them :) The quick mist can give you hiccups :D :D and if it does, we have a couple of ways to get around that :)

Good luck Noel and please keep in touch eh :)

Pete :)
