Chronic all over body pain worse after hip surgery

Had fibromyalgia ever been suggested? You can get all that with it, including dry eyes.
Are you on too low a dose of pred at the moment do you think? A hip replacement can take it out of you.
I had PMR flares after every joint replacement I had. Could it be that?
I’m sure more informed members will be along soon but my feeling is 4mg is pretty low to deal with after effects of hip surgery & PMR. I hope you feel better soon.
Just a thought. You are using a walker…I have been on crutches for 3 months…my shoulders hurt dreadfully…and I have a tendon tear in one of them. I am probably putting a lot more weight onto my crutches…but it could be shoulder muscles haven’t got used to using the walker? Also, I do suffer much like your description most days…mine is fibromyalgia that causes it, & my dry mouth is not Sjogrens, but the pills & painkillers that I take. Sadly, it may be nothing to do with PMR. Oh, I do have bad osteoarthritis, too, which is worse the lower I get on pred,as the pred was masking the fact that it’s got a lot worse over the past five years. Perhaps see your doctor again, and ask what it could be (again, probably)….
When I had my THR my surgeon kept me on my dose of 10 mg Pred, gave me a steroid boost during surgery and all his patients get steroids for a few days after surgery . I think there is a movement towards this and thatyour usual dose may not have been enough to cope with what your body perceives as an attack. I wonder if the experts would think sick day rules might put you back on track..
When i had my first lumbar surgery nearly 2 years ago i had exactly those symptoms. I have had fibro for years and the surgery set everything mad. After the surgery it also set in motion severe dry eye symptoms for a long time to the point that my right eye was bloodshot when i very gently got my eye to open. Its very hard to get doctors to understand how something like surgery can have such an impact when you already have underlying conditions. Its like everything gets stirred up. Are you using good moisturising eye drops, they do help but several times a day is needed. Hopefully things will settle for you but it takes time. Hope the hip op was successful for you.
What I have recently experienced is that my muscles and ligaments are week after5 years on prednisone--- so i have to be really helpful with exercise---- and be very gently with myself.
I love the questions in the posts below-- I hope they are good guidance for you and that you will soon feel much better!
