I'm 7 weeks into my recovery from left anterior hip replacement. I'm doing ok except for pain on the top of my left foot. I'm not using any crutches but could this pain be due to putting too much pressure on my operated hip?

Top of foot pain following hip replacement
Hi,
Can’t say I can recall anything similar - and the only thing I can find on t’internet is this comment -
“Patients with neuropathy often experience numbness, tingling, pain and weakness that starts in their feet and moves upward. Neuropathy described in this study is isolated to the limb where the hip surgery occurred -- often affecting the sciatic nerve that runs down the leg and controls strength and sensation.”
..but it doesn’t really sound like that- have you wrenched or twisted foot?
Suggest you contact either your orthopaedic department -have you had six week all clear yet? Or physio department.
I had a left hip replacement six weeks ago and my foot seems fine.
Did the pain start immediately post-op or has it developed later?
I think I had this occasionally before my accident resulting in my hip replacement, but it seems worse now. I'm not sure if it's because I'm putting too much pressure on the leg. I also broke my left wrist which is in plaster which makes movement slightly harder. I'm not using crutches.
That may mean you had some damage to the foot before the op and the op will have changed the way you walk considerably and that is exacerbating the problem. Did your orthopods know about it?
