Pain in calf/foot after hip bursa shot

Steroid shot to the left hip's bursa helped my pain immensely but the remaining pain in the calf, sometimes going down to the foot has been discouraging in as much as I am scheduling hip replacement. Somehow I doubt that my GP doctor can help me on this pain. Any suggestions?

As I just asked on the other comment - what sort of pain? What causes it, what makes it worse?

Walking my dog around the block. Just walking around the house or up the stairs does not.

After how long? Does the pain go when you stop walking? And come back when you start again?

Yes, the pain goes away when I stop walking and rest for a while.

I have never timed it. I just know that the pain gets worse the longer I walk and I can hardly wait to stagger home. This is usually in the morning when pred (now 3 1/2 mgs) is least effective. Later in the day the pain is not so pronounced.

I worry about blood clots if I can't do the walking required after hip replacement. I also have to worry about ulcer during the op as I can't take blood thinners.

I wear leg warmers and socks at night and warmers in the daytime too. This seems to help. I have googled symptoms and am referred to PAD and deep veined thrombosis. My heel has a sore that comes and goes which I continually apply triple antibiotic. My MD recently recommended a salve that could and did affect the ulcer. I don't expect the surgeon to diagnose. I see my MD next week. A friend recommended CBD oil which I may try to purchase today.

I was going to suggest peripheral vascular disease needs to be excluded so you need to see a vascular surgeon for the right tests. Was it better at higher doses of pred? It may be due to inflammation slowing the blood flow and more pred improves it.

Thank you Eileen for your suggestion. I hope I can find one in my area. And that my MD will pursue this suggestion.

Yes, it was better at higher doses of pred. When I got to 3 mgs, it became unbearable so I upped the dose to 3.5 late last year and have been at 3 mgs ever since.
