A month ago I had private blood works through medichecks I posted the results on the thyroid community and the response was PA and hypothyroid however my Gp at the time dismissed my results as normal but did agree to a retest - I’m seeing a different Gp today to go over the results but they have been already signed off as normal apart from the ferritin - would someone have a look and advise me ? Do I still push for PA or will I just be given a box of iron ?!

Brief background - I’m 42 - have been taking 50mg sertraline for the past 2 years but have just generally felt rubbish for a while - tiredness / needing to have 2-3 hr naps a day / constant pins and needles / I’ve gone from being able to do 4-5 Hiit classes a week to being out of breath going up stairs. I was already supplementing B12 and high Vit D but I’ve since switched to sub - lingual

medicheck results :

TSH 8.53 ( 0.2 - 4.2 r )

Free t3 5.57 ( 3.1 - 6.8 r )

Free thyroxine 13.4 ( 12 - 22 r )

Ferritin 14.1 ( 13 - 150 r )

(Active ) B12 51.3 ( 37.5 - 188 r)

Vit D 45.8 ( 50 - 175 r )

Folate 11.48 ( >3.89)

GP results :

TSH 4.9 ( 0.4-5.5)

Serum B12 362ng/l (190-910)

Vit D 59.6 (50-75nmol Adequate)

Ferritin 15 ( 22-133ug/l)

Folate 9.4 ( 3.9-26.8)

Some of your symptoms may well be low ferritin leveks. The norm is set too low. I'm trying to get my leveks up. I've read below 59 causes fatigue and other symptoms if you look it up. Do you take vitamin d. ? Have you had b12 done in the past to compare. If that reading was when you are on supplements you would appear to be struggling. Ask thus at Gp take a list of questions you want answers to. Also to get expanations . Thyroid problems cause bad fatigue and weight gain too ....well did in my friends case. I'm not medical. I hope when you get treated you will pick up in a month or 2. T care
