Serum ferritin too high?

Can anyone tell me whether 286 is too high for a serum ferritin level? I had an iron infusion a few months ago and this is my new level. I have been feeling very anxious, having panic attacks, not sleeping etc... and was wondering if it could be because of this? At the same time of the infusion I began SI B12 EOD for 6 weeks. I have already posted previously to see if anyone thought it was due to the B12, so I thought I should also check whether the ferritin level is too high? (I am female)

Thanks.

Just looked up my Medichecks blood test and on there ferritin ranges are 30- 650 ug/L . So your ferritin result appears to be excellent .

Do bear in mind , that often , when you start injecting B12 sufficiently as you obviously are , You start to feel worse . This is called “ reversing out” So keep focused and carry on injecting , and don’t forget a daily modest folic acid tablet of 400 mcg . Best Wishes .

hello, as wedgewood, checked my Medichecks result, same ranges (in March) and it was 268. Also apparently rises as we age. X

Thete are many reasons for raised ferritin levels;Infusions

Inflammation

Pregnancy

Alcohol abuse

I 8.agine the b12 is causing a reaction waking up nerves.

It is a high reading but you have had an iron (ferritin) infusion so that is what can be expected for a several months. I suggest you take an iron supplement to help your body make good blood with the help of your B12 EOD. You did two radical treatments simultaneously which will be a shock to your body which will have to work hard to integrate it all, especially as you will have been deficient in B12 and ferritin for probably a long time. Your body knows what it's doing it just needs time. It may help to go back to whoever prescribed the ferritin for reassurance. You should ideally have a follow-up chat.

Thank you. Yes I have tried to speak to Dr. Klein, but he said it is not due to the iron or the B12...

That is a surprising reply.Considering its happened after the B12 and transfusion.

I remember the effect well when having eod b12 injections .

Much needed bug alog for your body to deal with .

I had alot of anxiety feelings but it was pysical reaction to a serum b12 of 106pg/L to ovef 1500pg/L.

The autonomic system is affected.

I also had heart palpitations, tinnitus migraines, blurred vision.

To name a few .

Vertigo /balance issues the main symptoms before b12 started .

Ride the rollercoaster.

Think of your body 're booting'

Take any meds needed for symptoms to get through it.

It will improve.

Unfortunately it was the same for me .No reassurance.

That's why this form is needed .

I remember feeling poisoned .

Then worried if was too much b12 as the nurse told me my reaction wasn't 'normal' and wanting to stop them !!!

Yes, I feel scared to start injecting again... I haven't had an injection for 5 weeks. Initially I was feeling better (here and there), then the last few injections brought on marked anxiety and panic, so I stopped. In my mind I have taken on too much...
