I am two weeks no smoking. After many attempts at quitting I am feeling very confident. This time is different as I usually struggle when drinking alcohol. This time I’ve been out socially twice and not had a single one. Which I am very proud off.
Today marks my second week. I am feeling very very tired and down. I suppose I’m just wanted to make sure that this is normal? I am staring into space and can’t seem to get any energy.
I am finding today worse than all the others which is odd as I expected the first week to be hard. But it was a breeze.
Any advice or reassurance this is normal would be welcome.
Thanks everyone so much!
Matt.

I’m not an expert (there are some excellent experts on this site)... I can only relate my experience. I’ve been off for over 3 months. At a couple weeks I felt very very down - like I’d lost a good friend. I was spacey too and quite tired. Sometimes I still get blue but overall it’s much better! After 3 months I started to not miss it so much.
I think it’s normal to miss something that was a big part of your life. Your body is adjusting. I still feel very tired (not happy about that), but maybe that has more to do with winter coming and I had a serious gastro... plus I’m not exercising as I should.
Good luck - you got this now!! Things gradually improve and you will feel better!
Hey Matt28 , great to hear from you, its been a while. Sorry to read your last attempt didn't work out but fair play to you never giving up trying, as the saying goes 'if at first you don't succeed, try and try again'
Read through all the pinned posts and this one in particular if not already done so:
Feeling down, lack of energy and concentration are all perfectly normal nicotine withdrawal symptoms. To help with these withdrawals, drink loads and loads of water, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Herbal supplements can assist with any anxiety issues. A bit of a walk every day to clear the head and help with the tiredness.
Ah its great to hear from you too. You were my very own personal counsellor last time. Lol. I’m very determined this time. I just have too. I hate it now. Thanks for the tips and advice as always.
How have you been x
RoisinO1Administrator3 Years Smoke Free• in reply toMatt28
I'm grand thanks Matt28 , was 3 years smoke free there in September. Time just flying by. Finally landed a job from the Professional Cookery course I done if you remember. It is a chef in a local Nursing Home. I really love it, 5 months there now but at the beginning was torture as started in the middle of a 2 month heatwave here in Ireland so really experienced the heat of the kitchen literally
Nicotine is a stimulant so feeling tired and low after quitting is very natural. I didn't drink for two years when I quit, I couldn't deal with it at ALL !.
Hi there, this is great news. Keep strong with it. It gets a lot better. You soon start to really get to feel the benefits. I'm now 18 months smoke free and totally love it.
